Re: 3G Version (Wipeout 2048)

Some websites are suggesting there will be a code in the box to download Wipeout and no mention off signing up for contacts or topping up sim cards.

We will soon find out. AT&T announced there packages for American users.

Sony is offering a nice little incentive to pick up the £280 3G Vita in Europe: a free copy of WipEout 2048. You'll find a voucher to download WipEout 2048 from PSN so be sure to pick up a memory card along with your Vita to store the game.

For those who pick up a 3G Vita, Vodafone will be acting as your 3G service provider (a SIM card is bundled to get you online in minutes). 3G service will be available in the following countries:

from the neoseeker linky

kinda weird if the code is in the box as there is seemingly no requirement to use the 3g and simpluy download the game from the store.  maybe an incentive to shell out for the 3G ? *edit* and a mem card too

POSSIBLY vodaphone will be or has already coughed up the cash to sony to pay for the download and thats how they are getting their sim included  in the box.

also thats awful reporting from the journalist as vodaphone is only preffered and the vita isnt sim locked.

good marketing team !!!

Re: 3G Version (Wipeout 2048)

If it does come with a voucher code, and someone is definitely getting wipeout then oprting for the 3g is kind of a no brainer

Re: 3G Version (Wipeout 2048)

hi all...first post...good morning

Just pre-ordered a 3G Vita from GAME and the guy said they are NOT supplying the SIM to go with the Vita...

I will have to go into a Voda shop and purchase a SIM and data plan seperate ???  But he did say the Vita will be locked to Voda ??/ Did he know what he was talking about ?

If voda are giving away a copy ( download ) of Wipeout 2048 which i assume is about 40 pounds worth, then it would surprise me if they didnt try to tie us into a contract of some sort...

However i  am surprised that you cannot get a SIM now and register it....How busy are Voda gonna be on that first day in registering all the new SIM's and topping them up ?

It's got nothing to do with Game. Sony are putting the Vodafone SIM in the boxes before shipping, same thing happened with Japan with the SIM pack in box with all the manuals. Vita is not locked to Vodafone, Sony said this when they announced the deal with Vodafone to be the offical provider of 3G. So for price, well there has already been withdrawn ads stating you need to top up with £15 to get the free game or just top up your SIM. Means you know there is plans to have a pay as you go opition. There's two other threads on this very issue discussing the same thing.

Just a quick question about the 3G version. Do you have to use up your data within 1 month when you're on a pay as you go sim card? Or can you top up and then continue using that data for a few months untill it runs out?

I've pre-ordered the Wi-Fi bundle with Wipeout for £259 so I guess I may aswell pay £20 extra to get 3G (assuming you do actually get Wipeout with the 3G model lol) Although I'm not interested if I have to top up every month.

Re: 3G Version (Wipeout 2048)

ok sounds good....

I wonder if the SIM card will work straight outta the box or will it need registering ? Otherwise Voda will have a very busy day coming up..

If the Vita isnt locked to Voafone ( the guy in the shop says it was ) then ill stick with my giffgaff SIM, as the data on there is a bit more affordable..

Wonder how much data people expect to use ?

thanks all
