Noticed the same thing, but honestly i dont think it is an issue apart form being with vodafone crappy network.

It clearly has power saving and switched off WiFi after its not being used for a while.
There is definitely another problem too though as you described that sometimes when the 3G signal drops, WiFi seems to drop too. This happened to me while I was trying to download games and it caused the download to fail and wouldn't work until I power cycled the Vita.
So there are definitely still some bugs in the firmware particularly related to the networking.

Same here. I live smack bang in the middle of a Vodafone not-spot, so much so they installed a new cell tower for O2/Voda a few months back but it seems they are never going to switch the damn thing on.
Not a problem though, I doubt I will stay with Vodafone. I will either swap to Three or just not bother at all.
That said even with a full signal I have been having problem getting things to load. Trophies were able to sync okay over 2G/Edge but the web browser refused to load anything.

Glad i'm not the only one then. Thought there may be a problem with my Vita. I also get a crappy Vodafone signal indoors.
I managed to get a couple of online races on Wipeout without the Wifi dropping out ![]()
I'm gonna switch the Voda network signal off and see if that makes any difference to the wi-fi signal dropping.
If it's meant to be a power saving feature it's a bit backwards if you ask me, because a phone signal uses more power than a wi-fi signal lol
EDIT : I also noticed that if you are downlading something on your Vita and you just let your screen switch off, the download carries on in the background, but if you push the power button to switch the screen off, the download stops. This all depends on your wi-fi not dropping out of course ![]()
