Probably because it was originally released on the PSP so there is already a portable version. I think it does work on the Vita too although I could be mistaken.

It does - you may need a PS3 to get it though since I'm not sure it's on the Vita store yet.

Would have been nice to have a HD version and maybe a rework of the controls - twin sticks can be mapped but they still don't feel as natural as a proper analog implementation.

Anyway enough grumbling - I really don't know whether to just get the PS3 pack or get this for Vita. I've played MGS2 on PS2 to completion, didn't get to the end of SnakeEater due to moving and selling PS2 stuff.... Wonder where I'm most likely to play these now...

Isn't Peace Walker the worst of the three in terms of quality of the port on the PS3/360 as well?.... in which case, trophies aside, there is probably no need to port it across when you can download the PSP version...

I'm not sure if it's going to be a different set of trophies for both. As they support Transfarring or the transferring of game saves between them it's possible they may also share the same trophies.
