Re: Active Shutter 3D In The Works?

I am not hating anyone for their opinion, just hating it when people come on saying things that are totally untrue to suit their opinion.

As for 3D, it's great, but I will say it's poor on the PS3. (Crosstalk / resolution issues)

And if I came across 'sarcastic and defensive' it was becasue I was being accused of something I never did!

It might be easier if people actually read what I wrote and then made a comment.

Apologies if I hadn't made myself clear. I was trying to succinctly nip this in the bud before it flowered into a full-blown conflagration but I'm not so good at it. Too many posts in this board devolve into two sides each trying to have the last say. On an internet forum, that never ends.

Your original post basically boiled down to 'that's your opinion; I don't agree with you; I like 3D gaming myself; you make claims without substantiating them with evidence'. Nothing wrong with that. I'd agree with you on that.

But you also levelled an awful lot of sarcasm at the poster, picked apart every word of his/her post and replied disdainfully in block capitals, and used expressions such as 'I have never heard such crap come from 1 post in a long time!' and 'Let's just come out with the truth Kyosuko' which seem to me to be unnecessary provocation, not to mention the acid sarcasm of 'I did not realise you were an expert in 3D AND a time traveller!'

Like I say, such wording seems designed to provoke, not to engage. Perhaps it was supposed to be humorous, but I didn't see it that way (if you and Kyusuko are actually good mates than I can see how that might just be typical matey banter, in which case I jumped in too soon).

Part of my remit is to try to make the forums a nicer, more welcoming place, and perhaps I was heavy-handed with the term 'personal attack' but when you pick someone's every word apart, shouting in all caps and refer to another forumite as spouting off 'silly, unfounded and unresearched statements and lies', I think you take a step too far. I'm asking you to please have a little more consideration for your fellow opinion-spouters, and I'll leave it at that.

OK QuietlyWrong, and while your policing the forums for people using caps and asking for proof, then I would appreciate that you reel people in for coming off with statements like "Shutter 3D is now concidered out dated and unhealthy because of the consistant blinking" and the other 99.9% of Kyosuko's post.

Opinion is one thing, lies are another.

I used caps to differentiate from his amusing 'statements' to my own. I was not shouting and I am sorry if it came across that way.

And don't apologize for not being clear, you were quite clear in provoking me as you said.... 'So when you're criticised, your immediate reaction is to get sarcastic and defensive? Very interesting'

Now, whats interesting? My reaction to your smug ignorance?

Another quote from you... "Like I say, such wording seems designed to provoke, not to engage", you can talk to me about provocation when you previous replies to me were directly provoking?

As it stands, you let someone come onto these forums, spout utter nonsense about 3D because it suited their opinion, and when I reply to his unfounded statments, you try and call me out?? You my friend are what's wrong with this world!

As for me liking 3D gaming, where did I say this? Again, it seems you never actually read my post. I was calling out Kyosuko's silly statments. (FYI: I actually use 3D on my PC which is awesome for 3D gaming, not the PS3)

Now, why don't you swallow you pride on this one, admit you were wrong, and we can move on eh?

Tell me Yaster, will people like QuietlyWrong also get such a warning? I see some people breaking the rules you claimed I infringed.

Also, can you point out the areas in 'house rules' where I broke these rules? Or are they open to interpretation / abuse?

And for the record, this PM can be shared for public viewing.

Hello Valenni

Welcome to the official PlayStation Community

The post you created in the above topic caused a bit of a reaction from other members of the community, to which you responded aggressively and arrogantly.  These are qualities not best suited to that of an ideal poster in these forums.

Please refrain from posting in capital letters too, in your post it just makes you sound as if you are shouting.  If you wish to respond to certain parts of another community members post then use the quote function and add your response to the quote in a different colour.

Please read the House Rules before continuing to post, and respect your fellow community members.

Regards

Re: Active Shutter 3D In The Works?

[ Edited ]

"I don't think so, and I don't think it ever will be"

I used the word "think" to show that this is my personal opinion.

"Shutter 3D is now considered out dated and unhealthy because of the consistent blinking"

Active 3D use's glasses that are expensive, they flash at a very high rate in front of you eyes, the require charging and batteries. While Passive 3D uses technology is cheaper and uses polarized glasses much like the cinema. Many companies now are choosing passive 3D over active 3D because it's cheaper and more convenient. Both 3D solutions causes health risk's and warn that you should stop watching if you get a headache.

"Passive 3D is also a no"

Because it requires a special polarized screen, the PSVita doesn't have that.

"I think 3D is a novelty that soon wares off"

Yet again I use the word "think" stating that it's my opinion.

"we see this with 3DS* many play on 2D"

Source is from Kotaku where they did a survey and the majority of people played with 3D off. Argue with the source.

"It's not worth the production costs"

If Sony decided to use Passive 3D they would have to manufacture a new batch of PSVita's with special polarized screens, it's said that Sony sells each PSVita at a loss now or a very small profit. Active 3D I believe also requires a special screen to display it, I'm no expert and don't claim to be, nor do I claim to be a time traveller.

That would lead me to say that to introduce 3D would further increase the price of the PSVita, something I think Sony wouldn't want to do since some/most people want a price cut.

"Let's just come out with the truth Kyosuko, you personally don't like 3D and that's ok"

Incorrect, I have a 42 inch LG Passive Cinema 3D TV down stairs and I love it, it lead me to buy a 27 LG Passive Cinema 3D Monitor to play my PC games in 3D using TriDef 3D. I'm just simply saying why I think it wouldn't come to PSVita.

Re: Active Shutter 3D In The Works?

Good man! You have explained yourself nicely! Although I still think the active 3D system has not been declared 'unhealthy'. Yes they do blink, but it's not noticed by most people as it's so fast. Yes they need charged, but so does a Vita. Should we get rid of that? And passive 3D is slowly becoming another option for many companies, but no, not many companies are 'choosing' passive OVER active.

As an LG user I assume you use passive @ a 720p resolution? Not really my idea of good 3d, just like the poor PS3 3D quality. I much prefer my 1080P Samsung bluetooth 6900D 50" active 3D. (Less crosstalk with Bluetooth)Just my opinion. :-)

But no, 3D on the Vita is just like the 3DS, not really inticing IMO.

Either way, I am glad you edited your post from a possible 'fact' report to 'opinion'. :-)

No hard feelings eh? ;-)

Re: Active Shutter 3D In The Works?

It's okay man, I don't take things said on the internet personally. It's hard to express emotion on the internet so things can easily be misunderstood. Passive 3D can run at 1080p and it does look amazing. Visually I'm sure Active 3D is better because wearing Passive 3D glasses is like wearing sunglasses.

But sticking to topic, I can see how the UI would benefit visually from 3D. I just personally think that at a marketing look at it, it wouldn't be beneficial to Sony as the 3DS already takes that market and it wouldn't shut down that market gap as people mainly buy the 3DS for Mario, Zelda ect... rather than the 3D. So Sony will end up with manufacturing costs they would not gain back in sales.

(Especially with the Sales figures at the moment not that I want to mention them because I love the PSVita and I have no idea why the sales are so low) Lets see what Christmas brings :smileyvery-happy:
