Functionality wise, not a lot if at all anything.

On a PS3 console level, you are missing out on the Uncharted series. Probably the best gaming series I have come across on any platform. I am very pro Xbox and I reckon it is a wonderful entertainment system. However, PS3 does beat the Xbox from a pure gaming perspective. I do prefer the Xbox controller though!

I have a Vita, PS3 and 360 in the lounge.... if you are looking at it from the point of view of are you missing anything by not having the PS3/Vita combo, then probably not a lot... a few synch functions which are still in their infancy, and the ability experience entire exclusive game families... like Uncharted..

From the point of view of PS3 vs 360... very little in it but built in bluray and exclusives... Personally I was faced with having to choose one range of exclusives over the other, I'd go with the PS3.... I don't like the Halo series, and as good as the Gears of War series is, it's not worth buying a console over IMO... and Forza... love the series, and depending on my mood actually prefer Forza 4 over GT5, but with having GT5 at my disposal I don't really need any Forza game...

PS3 exclusives on the other hand... I'd miss my Naughty Dog and Insomnia exclusives too much... and the Quantic Dreams games are/will be something truely unique..

yes you are missing out,ps3 has ton of awesome exclusive games.imho ps3 is a must have for any true gaming fan.

It is worth buying a PS3 purely for the exclusive games alone.

I have both an Xbox 360 and PS3 and when it comes to exclusives for me the PS3 wins hands down.

i have a vita and not once used it in conjunction with my ps3 so i would say no your not missing anything.

(as in connectivity wise with vita to ps3)

whats he missing connectivity wise to a ps3? apart fromt remote play which i wouldnt rush out and spend up to £200 just for that. rather play it on the ps3.

There is a lot more to connectivity then remote play. There is also a lot more to the PS3 then connectivity with the Vita. Not to mention you can pick up a PS3 for a lot less then £200.

There is a lot more to connectivity then remote play. There is also a lot more to the PS3 then connectivity with the Vita. Not to mention you can pick up a PS3 for a lot less then £200.

this isnt the discussion as far as i can see otherwise then duh yes get a ps3. Im guessing the OP wants to know if hes missing out on anything with his vita by not having a playstation 3!?!? Clearly he isnt missing out on anything which is worth going out and spending £0-£200 for. I mean come on why would you spend over £200 on a vita ( or however much ) and then fork out more for a ps3 because you can connect your vita to it.  and then disconnect it after a few seconds and pretty much gain nothing from that.
