What really ***** me off is that i just bought my Vita and after 2 weeks had to send it back because the X button was sqeaky. I mean, with a couple of games it cost me 400 Euros and this is what i get!

So? They are made on a huge line so you can expect some issues. A squeaky button is hardly world ending is it? You'll get it fixed/replacement so what's the deal?

Easy solution to all with the problem. If you don't want unauthorised purchases. Delete your bank details after each purchase, that way you can't make the mistake of buying unintentionally.

Re: Annoying to find games can be purchased without security.

Hi, sorry to say this but I must make small correction. I set up three PS Vita and none of them is asking me for password after initial setup if I want to buy games however it asks me for password when I want to access my account (but maybe I missed some point during the setup). Nevertheless I completely agree with your second paragraph that children should not have access to main account.

Re: Annoying to find games can be purchased without security.

The Vita was designed for use by just one user, the person whoes PSN account is registered on it.

With that knowledge its common sense to think that PERHAPS its not as locked down as a multi-user console is.

They did not force passwords because if you are sat on the bus buying content the LAST thing you want is the person next to you or behind you being able to watch you type your password in.  For a portable console its far safer to have a passcode to unlock, ideally the ability to remotely disable the unit if you lose it but NOT have to type your account password every five minutes.

This is actually something I HATE about iOS.  To buy something I have to type my password into the touch screen in full view of everyone nearby?  Stupid.

Think about it, if someone steals my Vita, they can only purchase content on that Vita with my account.

If someone watched my type my password in then steals it, they can do whatever the hell they want including moving my account onto other consoles.

If you left your wallet or phone on a table in a cafe and it was stolen is it your fault it got stolen or the Cafes for not providing suitable security? Just like you have things such as pockets and bags to protect your items, you also have passwords and security measures on a Vita. If you choose not to use your pockets, or in this case the security settings, then it is ultimately your own fault.

In this instance you should be having a go at your child rather than Sony. Would you let him run around Toys 'R' Us with your wallet full of cash? With the settings you currently have on your Vita that is essentially what you are doing.

To be fair it's harsh saying that he should have a go at his child. Children often don't know any better and you can't always blame or punish them. It's the responsibility of the parent to make sure such things don't happen.

Bang on!

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

I don't think it's harsh at all :-S

How else can a child learn consequences if, when they do something wrong, you don't tell them 'You aren't allowed to do that'. I'm not saying go and completely ball at him, but I would teach my child exactly what it is they are doing. You are right when you say " Children often don't know any better", but unless you teach them how will they ever learn?

It IS the adults fault, no doubt, but it's clearly a life lesson for the child too. I didn't say 'It's the childs fault' though, I said in this instance it is the childs fault more than it is Sonys. In an ever increasing digital world stories like this are becoming more and more common. Just like kids are smart enough to teach their parents stuff on computers, it's also a time where they should be learning about consequences on the internet. It's incredible how tech-savvy children as young as 7 are becoming and, just like we do in the 'real world', we must also teach them about their responsibilities online as well.

This is straying in to a whole different topic, but I still agree it's the parents fault but a life lesson for the child too. If you feel they are old enough to handle a £200 games console with all the stuff it comes with then it is your responsibility to teach them how to use it responsibly.
