How else can a child learn consequences if, when they do something wrong, you don't tell them 'You aren't allowed to do that'. I'm not saying go and completely ball at him, but I would teach my child exactly what it is they are doing. You are right when you say " Children often don't know any better", but unles you teahthem how will they?
It IS the adults fault, no doubt, but it's clearly a life lesson for the child too. I didn't say 'It's the childs fault' though, I said in this instance it is the childs fault more than it is Sonys.
If anything it is the adult to be balled at.
This case is clear the adult is to blame. Not the child Not Sony but the so called parent.
Now if the child had originaly been told not to buy anything then yes it is partly the childs fault, but as a parent my self I would not leave a card attacteched to the account due to not so common snese.
The Adult in this case did not check and just handed the Vita to the child.
Adult give electronic babysitter to child with CC attached the adult needs to face responsabillity and blame no one but them selves.
Instead of pawning off to a electronic babysitter these so called parents need to become propper parents.

Why do people quote me yet not actually read what I say?
I said DO NOT ball at the child. I said it WAS the adults fault. I also, however, said it is a life lesson for all. The child will now know that they cannot do what they did, how can pointing that out be a bad thing?
Again, and I hate to repeat myself, it IS the adults fault but it is also a good experience where the adult can learn and teach their child the lesson too.
As I said prior, this is straying completely off topic for what is expected on a Playstation forum. As far as i'm aware we don't even know the age of the child in question. People are acting like it's a toddler involved when it could equally be a young adult.
I really don't see how it seems harsh to simply sit your child down and say, "When you did that thing on the Vita the other day you actually bought the game again. Can you make sure you don't do that anymore please?" Then run along and change your settings to something actually secure. "Proper parenting" as you call it also requires you teach your children consequences. As I keep saying it's a lesson for everyone to learn from, young and old. Adults should lock their systems, kids should be taught to use them responsibly.

I was quoting you as I was replying to you and what you wrote as I did read it.
The child did nothing wrong is what I am getting at and does not need to be told off in anyway.
It's the parents's stupidity nothing elese.
Propper parenting would notice that.
Yes the child dose need to be tought responsabillty but also this was not the child responsability it was the parent's.
does not matter how old the child is 5 or 15.

Of course the child did something wrong, IF they are old enough to know what they did. The age of the child is hugely relevant here.
However it sounds more like the child ended up in the store and accidentally bought the game while trying to get back into it. In which case the child was clearly too young to understand what they were doing and thus, parents fault.
In that case it sounds like the child wasn't old enough that WiFi should even have been left turned on in the first place.

Ill put it simple for you, OP.
You are at error here.
You set up the PSVITA with all your details, with money on the account and then passed it to another party, what happens there after is your own fault. And yes, it does ask for a password, but there is also an option to rememeber all the details and auto-log you in. you have chosen such.
Oh and ofcourse there are security settings, you have just ignored them. and as far as my experiance goes, it isnt a set default that a password is demanded, just today i set one on my phone ive had for 3 months now, never before was it asked for.
And lastly. you cant add new funds as far as im aware without using the security code on the back of your card, ive had to do this many a time. so at some point you have told this to your offspring.

the point I made was that the account the vita is linked to requires a password for wallet funding and games purchases, it is reasonable in most peoples opinion to assume that as the master account requires the password to be entered then any sub account will follow the same rules.
And as my 5 year old has no idea of the security number on the back of my card he obviously can't have put it in to authorise the funding, therefore you are incorrect there too. You obviously have little grasp of the point I was making that a sub account linked to a master account should follow the same protocol.
