Can you listen to your music outside of the app, so its running in the background while you are playing a game etc?

Yes you can you have to make a playlist and select offline mode in the settings

I could only get this to work after restoring vita, but glad it works so might continue after 30 day trial

It works OK, however the offline playlist modes don't allow quick control of the music - you can't just hold down the PS button and swap tracks for example. That would be a nice ability to have.

It'd also be nice if the PS3 let you play the music while doing other stuff but it seems not.

Looking forward to the iOS version now.
