PS Vita: General Discussion

i just bought F1 2011 & i was excited to find out how great it will look on such powerful handheld but once i played it all the excitement went away,the game looks & plays just like a Ps2 game !! i thought they said Vita was like a Ps3 in your pocket !! what happened here codemasters ?  is Vita going to be like Ps3 where only first party games look stunning ?

Codemasters passed the buck to Sumo Digital on this one.

I never bought it for the vita but own it on the PS3...The graphics don't bother me... but the decision to dumb down it's simulation to arcade physics and controls... were the only reason why I didn't bother with this title even with it's heavy discount not so long ago.

To be fair, the downgrade of graphics does mean that its runs great with 24 cars and no lag at all

F1 2011 should run well on the PS Vita as its only a 3ds port afterall. This is also the reason why the graphics looks like it came from a PS2, the physics were dumbed down and why the game generally looks and plays nothing like the home console version as sumo had to get the game to run on the 3ds.

After that it was upscaled to fit the vita screen and then released with the same core gameplay and look, even the DRS/KERS control limitation made it from the 3ds to vita (try to activate both at the same time it's almost impossible due to the controls sumo picked for DRS and KERS).

Overall it was a cheap port to cash in from the launch period of the vita.

Visual quality has dropped in F1 since Sony did not re-new the licence for Studio 33

But the gameplay is still good and I find it fun to play.
