PS Vita: General Discussion

Yeah another one of these threads but I have my issues. 

First off I love the Vita, My fingers are actually hurting playing F1 2011 on it! 

When I first switched on the Vita, and went to set it up, this was the first issue I had with it. It asked you to update the software on the device, but since you could not input your own PSN id, I eventually had to use a temp one to just install the software. I am sure that will have caught out a few people and ***** them off. 

I love the way the Vita works, seems very easy to use. I was a bit disappointed that Facebook was unavailable despite saying I was, but I have heard this will be coming as they had issues so fair dues. 

My next disappointment was the trophies and general communications between the PS3 and the Vita. You can see all the PS3 trophies on the Vita, but you can't see nothing on the PS3? Will this be updated so we can do this as I love to earn trophies and share them with my mates....bragging rights! Just seems a little bit silly not to be able to view the ones from the Vita unless it is via a Vita. 

Also a little disappointed on the online status between the PS3 and Vita also, No one is able to see that I am online from there PS3, which can be a bit of annoying. 

I reckon a good feature for the Vita would be text messaging capability. I mean you can read the messages, so an option to send them would not be a bad thing. 

I think that some of the games are a little overpriced, I think some kind of discount for example if you have F1 2011 for the PS3 you should be able to get F1 2011 for the Vita at a discounted rate. 

I also thing Sony has took the ***** when it comes to the memory cards for the Vita, They are very overpriced as they are just a re-designed MicroSD card! 

I do however love the 3G system on it, I popped in my T-Mobile Contract sim and had no issues, very fast connection and this will be good for online gaming and web browsing, 

I have not tried the music and video yet but if anything the way the gaming graphics go by then it will be fantastic. 

I think the Vita is a good toy, just needs some improvement, and I think Sony should certainly listen to some of the idea's of the customer, because as the end of the day these are not cheap. I just spent £350 today just for the device.

Pretty sure you'll find the comms side with PS3 will improve as time goes on

Facebook was out but Sony took it down due to probs on facebook's side apparently.

I have sent SEN message on my Vita to friends  who have messaged me from their PS3 as I am sure many others have?

I also bought the Vita today and so far after 8 hrs of play I'm yet to find a single problem with it. My wifi connection is always 2 or 3 bars full where ever I go around the house, and I'm yet to experience any disconnects of any type and so far after playing or downloading quite a few games and apps my machine is yet to freeze up. The games I have purchased are also very good, so I'm at the moment a very happy Vita customer.

I don't think messaging was the problem. The moan was about Trophies not showing up - although Vita trophies are added to the total count so the ePeen measuring can continue that way. I don't think this will change actually - I don't think the PS3 will ever show specific trophies from Vita because to do so, the PS3 would need someway to get the text of the trophies, but who knows what magic Sony can make happen.

But yes, messaging between Vita and PS3 seems fine as does text chatting but I've not tried voice with that yet.

The OP meant text messages, you can receive them but you can't send. 

Regarding Vita trophies showing up on the PS3  that would be really easy to implement, if the Vita can show PS3 trophies (which obviously weren't earnt on the PS Vita) then the PS3 should be capable of showing vita trophies

I can do messaging with Vita, and works well and I love the way the messaging works, however sometimes when I am on line i might get a message from a mate becuase I am online and When I am on Vita it shows i am offline on the PS3. And when I have a chat it shows I have around x amount of unread messages on the PS3 which can be annoying. 

I love the Vita though, I hope Sony just does a few little additions to make it that little bit better which I am sure they will. I remember the beginning software of the PS3 and has improved over the years.
