I was just reading about the capabilities of the Vita and was remembering the time the original PSP was announced.
At the time i was very interested with the remote play feature of the PSP,Being able to play PS3 games that would be enhanced by also using the PSP.(Probably one if the deciding factors to me buying one)
Anyone remember the Gran Turismo video showing the PSP as a rear view mirror?
It never happened.Playing games via PS3 on PSP was and still is a laggy mess and thats only if you can find the half a dozen or so games that use the function.(Pixel junk monsters,Lego Batman to name two that i own)
Now i'm wondering if the same thing will occur this time around,Sony are saying you can play PS3 games remotely using the Vita.Is this just a ruse to sell units knowing that its not really going to come to fruition?

Just been to the PS Vita room in Manchester, really liked the look of the Vita and the touch screen menus were much better that I expected and I didn't miss the XMB. The d pad was very good although i never needed to use it and the twin sticks were excellent.
I had one main question for the staff....
Can I remote play or transfer my PSN games from my PS3 onto my Vita?
They said Sony are going to do it and were looking at a large back catalogue of PSN titles but said they were yet to confirm which titles etc.. and to wait for it to be announced.
This is kind of a deal breaker for me, as I've invested loads into PSN games and to be able to transfer or remote play them is vital for a vita!I'm not prepared to buy one until it's confirmed or buy one only to have to re buy Vita versions of all my PSN faves!

Note that Vita can't play PS3 games. If you're talking about PS3 games you've got on your PS3, then they won't work.
PSP games and minis will work though, and chances are - if you've only registered one PSP, or are willing to unregister one - you will be able to transfer to Vita.

Yeah, we await more information about the scope of Remote Play on Vita. I suspect it's up to the developers to include support for it in the PS3 executable or patch it in.

The whole concept of widely supported remote play for PS3 games on the Vita is for me one of the biggest selling points of the system.
The lack of information on support or the capabilities of the machine to efficiently do this will probably swing me on a purchase.
Early misinformation suggested wide reaching support...now it seems that it is something that has to be patched in.
It's a bit of a watch this space tbh....but I'm pretty sure support will end up being patchy ....
I suppose as a purchasing point it comes down to individual need...for me the ability to carry on with a game while "er indoors" watches TV is a biggy
Eh you... what are you doing lurking these parts?... ![]()
