How good is psvita sound quality as a music player?

[ Edited ]

Hey guys since these days the sound quality is no longer offered in the most compact system like an usb stick like mp3 and almost everything which praises to have sound quality is on pathetic sized systems like ipods ios or sony z1000 google android based players (which frankly i dont like them one bit as they are useless thanks to their size by including screens and make a fail attempt to advertise them as consoles)

I might aswell just buy a real propper portable console... however:

Im very curious about the sound quality, after all one of the biggest features im after is the sound quality, long gone are the days where u could buy just a high quality mp3 player with pcm-linear and attach it to your keys as trinkets, could tell you the current date and time and that was about it doing a great job at just doing that.

Im more or less satisfied with a sony b-173 walkman, for its price its sound quality and functionalities are great, however, i cant feel to help that 60€ price range is there for a reason... and no uncompressed format option beying one of the reasons, dont get me wrong i really like it and sound quality is quite decent for such a low priced item.

So having said that, i am very curious: How good is the PS Vita compared to lets say latest ipod and to that specific sony b-173 walkman? i know the z.1000 walkman is alot better in sound quality than ipod but how about ps vita?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: also one more question if i may, is it true that u can play any downloadable ps3 game on your psvita? like Wipeout HD for example?

With headphones it's alright. The built in speakers are just a huge let down for it.

Only Hustle Kings and Motorstorm RC are the only ones that have a Vita version (I think). Wipeout is just cross-play.

There is also Top Darts. That's about it though. Yes Wipeout is just online multiplayer between the PS3's HD game and 2048 on Vita.

As a music player I would have though it would have been along the line of poor to average (don't use it as a Music player) just like all the other stuff that was thrown in to try and make certain people happy.

Could be wrong but I doubt it.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

thank you very much for your replies guys, its great to have this kind of clarification :smileyvery-happy:
So when you mean with a pair of decent headphones it sound alright, is it nothing impressive only average? or can it still be better or equal to ipod sound quality?

Sadly I don't have an iPod to compare it with.
I use a cheap pair of Sony headphones and you do have to put the volume well over half way to get any decent quality out of it.

Personally I think the sound quality is much better on my iPhone and iPad.
