Sony would be amazed (not least of which because they haven't built that many worldwide, let alone UK only), it would be the fastest selling thing ever and you'd probabaly even get Nintendo announcing a Mario game for it while withdrawing the 3DS from sale....

 That's because it's just a count of how many times sync has been done - not how many people there are.

96 syncs is probably generated from about 25 people by now assuming no one has spammed Near around you.
