Issue with touch screen

I found an issue where my touch screen is unresponsive while the PSVita is charging. No matter how many times I try & touch the screen, it doesnt respond, but the strange thing is, if I turn off the unit & unplug the charger, then turn the unit back on, the touch screen works fine. *****????

Re: Issue with touch screen

Do a factory reset/system restore and go from there.

Re: Issue with touch screen

Hi, I have the same issue. This is my second Vita and the first one had the same problem. A factory reset/system restore does not solve the problem for me. I can't use the Vita while plugged in to the laptop or to the charger. Please Sony fix it soon because it is a BIG issue for me.

Re: Issue with touch screen

It's not likely your PS Vita that has the issue - it is the building's electrical that is causing it.

The capacitive screen is likely very sensitive to a poor circuit quality (i.e. -poor overall grounding may cause too much residual charge in the unit for the screen to continue to function)

Get better wiring/grounding or the issue will persist.

Re: Issue with touch screen

Hi I thought it might have something to do with the electrical system as I have the same problem (with two PSP Vita's) but it was only in relation to the sockets on the top floor of our house.  They were fine everywhere else in the house.  But I don't think it's the sockets as I plugged a long extension lead in to a socket downstairs and the screens worked fine until I took them upstairs still plugged in to the extension lead.

I don't think it's anything to do with the wifi signal either because I've tried turning wifi off and putting it in airplane mode and get the same problem (screen non-responsive when charging on the top floor and fine when not (also on the top floor)).  Does anyone have any other ideas?

Regards

John

It's a hardware issue. Call 1300 365 911.

Re: Issue with touch screen

I would start at the very beginning. The power supply first. If you suspect dodgy power, there are surge protectors and power filters. I have learned the value of filters. I also like to see little green lights. When plugging the cable into the Vita I would make sure it is powered down. Very hard for (do it now people) I know there may be variable situations - panic, saving game senarios etc or too late sorry situations. I am going to kill some more Trolls now, I hope this is a seed for some thought - take care with electricity :smileyhappy:

Re: Issue with touch screen

I agree with Mignun. This 'power defficiency' which could be caused by anything from a weak power supply, to a lame usb charge, is nothing more then a mis-communication from the SONY corporation. In my personal experience. I've never had a problem with my PSVita and it's touchscreen when I have recharged it with my a/c adapter (australian), but as soon as I try to to charge it from my laptop, or pc (both which are running usb 2.0) I find the touchscreen becomes incompatible, untill i reset (hold the power button down for at least 20 sec). The only suggestion that I can put... Is that unless you're running a pc with windows Vista and a hardware configuration of usb 3.0, I would try and stay away from usb charging. Still, this is not SONY's fault considering they warned us that this handheld device runs on 'SUPERMAN' blood.

Re: Issue with touch screen

It has a capacitive Touch Screen. It measures the difference in Electro-Magnetic field .So,when you plug it in for a charge the Electric field (due to some reason)Leaks inside the Vita and causes confusion for the Touch screen leading to eradic behaviour  .
