List of PSP Games to Play on the Vita

[ Edited ]

The US Playstation Blog has just posted up a "How to download PSP games to vita and a list of games to download on the PS Vita". So far it mentions that 275 PSP games will be available downloaded atl aunch with more coming in the following weeks and some more may be available on launch day.

The list is to big to post here and remember that there are some games on the list that we dont have on the EU Store, but most likely if they work on a US Vita, they will work on an EU Vita.

Bummer, as expected no Burnout :xCry:, no GT, no GTA, no Gangs of London, no MGS, no Lumines, all which I would expect to be considered higher priority titles than 99% of that list.  I guess its to be expected really as if the PSone emulator isn't even ready yet its amazing the PSP emulator is.

"more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks"

I'm going to hold you to that. :Sniper:

The irony is I'm probably going to end up playing Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies a fair bit as it seems the Williams and Gottlieb Pinball collections are missing off there too, damn.  I was really hoping to have lots of pinball on my Vita as I hardly ever get round to playing on the TV and the 3DS is just too small.

Vita is a nice screen size/resolution - as was the PSP actually but the ergonomics were problematic especially for games that insisted on using L and R for the flippers, the Vita is infinitely more comfortable to operate.

[EDIT]

Some interesting comments showing up on there:

"I checked the list again, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories isn’t on there, but I’m playing that right now so you can add that on too. Also, GUN: Showdown works, and that is a great game for showing off the remapping of the face buttons to the right analogue stick"

Re: List of PSP Games to Play on the Vita

I guess its more to do with what the PSP emulator can handle, rather than what is popular demand.

Still Daxter there, never played it and heard it was a pretty good game

Sounds like they may be staggering the list too for some reason as there are reports of games working on imported units that aren't on that list.  Games which aren't even regionalised to Japan so are likely identical code to the US version so should work.

As long as they keep adding stuff its not too bad.  If it stops them making the mistake Microsoft did with the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility (some levels on Burnout 3 play in slow motion due to a glitch rendering weather effects) I suppose its a good thing.

I just REALLY wanted to get Burnout ASAP as I have just been playing it on PSP because my hands were feeling particularly good, usually the poor position of the analog nub cramps my hand too quickly to even get a single race done.  Plus its going to look so much better on the OLED screen.

Re: List of PSP Games to Play on the Vita

Don't see the appeal as much as I never saw the appeal playing older generation GBA games on a 3DS.

I buy a new console to play new content & what should be better games, if I wanted to play my old games I would play it on what hardware it was designed for.

Each to there own I guess.

Re: List of PSP Games to Play on the Vita

I'll just point out as well, one of the comments by the staff was this;

Just to be clear – this is the initial list. It is by no means final. So for you (and others below) clamoring for X title, you should not think that just because you don’t see it here today doesn’t mean it’s not going to be here soon.

So maybe some more will be added before the release date!

And yeah , it might be a bit different then the list us EUians will get!

Yeah, our list will probably only have 150 titles on it.
