PS Vita: General Discussion

I received my copy of the above game today, and I have to say....WOW!   Its awesome.  The graphics and presentation leave stuff like FIFA in the dirt!    Why oh why will Sony not release these MLB games in Europe??  The PS3 versions are fantastic too!  They release NASCAR, NFL, NHL, NBA etc etc, but not what is arguably their best ( and many rate it as the best sports title on any system) games in the EU?

EA do all the NHL, NFL etc games and they chose to publish them worldwide as those sports have a bigger market

Sony make MLB and used to release it over here but i'm guessing it never really sold since they stopped doing so in recent years.

Yeah i wouldnt mind getting my hands on this, where did you get it from? The main reason they dont release over here is because the sales wouldnt jusitfy the marketing etc, but i believe the next one is going digital only in europe, theres a few titles going that way now

I would be surprised if it didn't. As far as I'm aware all Sony first party games that have online do have an online pass. Hot Shots Golf, Modnation Racers and Wipeout do.

BlackKnight, i'm guessing the Vita isn't region locked? can we play American games without any problem? that site looks wicked

Not region locked for physical media, but any add-on DLC will be a problem for US only games like this.

I got it from VideoGamesPlus.ca, brilliant service.

Yeah, it comes with the online pass, but you cant register it as yet, I assume due to the fact the game isn't released in the US until Tuesday next week! If its due to it being classed as DLC and the DLC wont work.......its no biggy, as the game is very much full and complete anyways! This game isn't really something I would play online anyways! The only games I tend to play online is FPS or racing! 100% worth the purchase, and it will never be released over here, so go for it! £25 from that site I just mentioned. I even paid the extra £17 to get it sent via DHL, fully tracked. It was sent on Weds afternoon, I rcvd it at 10:45 this morning! Worth it to me! Better than waiting up to 4 weeks via standard mail!

Ahhhh - no online pass = no ability to open online an a non US account :/ Well, that's how it was for the Japanese import games like Wipeout and Golf.

I had concluded it doesn't matter all that much for MLB because you can't cross play Vita/PS3 so on the Vita I'm only interested in continuing franchise modes through the cloud. I'll stick to the PS3 for online as usual.

However, that's this year - if they introduce cross play with PS3 and other mutliplayer stuff in MLB 13, then it will be sorely missed by me.

Having said that, I read that this is the last year Sony have the rights to ML.Baseball - be interesting to see if they renew it or not. I really have no feel for how big a deal it is for Sony to have this in terms of US sales. They let the F1 license go and I'd have thought that would've been worth more.
