PSP is a established console in the UK, The Vita is not yet.

 

Makes perfect sense to me.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

What doesn't make sense to you. It's their decision what they release and when. They obviously have their reasons. The PSP is still a supported console and hasn't been discontinued yet. There is already a white one out in Japan and they are now releasing one in the EU. They will release a white Vita over here when they are good and ready. And the end of the day it's just a different colour and nothing to really be annoyed about.
