PS Vita: General Discussion

Re: Mobile phone

THIS is what I want Sony to do with the Vita: Please Read Sony Reps

I want you to treat the Vita like a TABLET that plays hardcore games.

It's very simple.

It was not Angry Birds(tm) that put an ios device in every hand.
It was the fact that the ios device was able to do everything. It alleviated the consumer from having to carry around a bunch of devices around that to achieve a common function. The Iphone was able to read documents (txt, pdf, etc), check emails, socialize online, surf the web, watch movies, listen to music, play games AND make phone calls all on one device.

But, it was lacking one crucial thing to make the device perfect for gamers....the tactile response associated with buttons.

Enter: The PS Vita
What people thought they were getting was a hardcore gaming device that could also do everything that can be done on their Smartphones and iOS devices. This didnt happen. What happened was an antiquated model of handheld gaming that worked well in 2006.

Sony, please update your marketing strategy and get with the times.
As it stands now, you do not have a chance against Nintendo's older tech in the 3DS DSI XL. The reason is you are playing on the wrong playing field.

The Vita needs to be everything Ipad is WITH buttons and a hardcore gaming experience. This is not hard to do when you concentrate your focus. Right now, you are doing a 'One focus' strategy. But, it's high expectations on the wrong information.

Long story short,
Open your device up to be more versatile!
It's as simple as that.

Right now the VIta is not even on the same functionality level as my $39 cell phone. Even it can open .TXT documents!

Sony are you listening?

Regards,
A loyal fan

To knock nintendo of the top spot of the hand held console market is not expected but if they can take soome of their gamers that happy days

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

Re: Mobile phone

How many people here actually carry their Vita in their pocket like a mobile phone??

I don't. If I take it out of the house then it is safe in a travel case that is placed inside a rucksack. I think carrying it in your pocket unprotected like a mobile phone is just asking for it to get damaged IMO.

Anyway Sony will NEVER add mobile phone capabilities to the Vita so can we please put this topic to bed please!

No I did not!!

I never thought that the Vita would do everything that a Smartphone or iOS device could do. I thought it would play (as near as possible) PS3 style games but in my hand.

It really does surprise me how many people did not do their research before purchasing their Vitas :Stupid:

You, not "people" thought that the Vita would do everything that a smartphone can do. Now if you had done your research then you would have realised that it is a primary handheld gaming device and NOT a replacement for your smartphone!!

If I am wrong then please show me some evidence that Sony made any such claims to the Vita being an alternative to your smartphone.

As far as I am aware Sony have always advertised the Vita as a gaming device with a few extra features but in no way can they be accused of trying to push the Vita as a viable alternative to your smartphone!

Do your research people!!

I'll keep on checking in to see if you can get some evidence that Sony made about the Vita being a viable replacement for your smartphone. Not second hand reporting or links to some fat geeks blog, but actual statements or advertising by Sony on the above issue. Good luck with that
