All new TV's have full on social media aspect but is as far from a phone as you can get.
When was the last time you carried your TV with you to browse facebook while on the bus?Straws clutching you are!
All I have said is all new electonic media comes with Social Apps nothing more does not make them somthing they are not.
My point still stands you are using your kindle because you have no better option. A lot of people just like you don't have a lot of options.
No it does not
You would not downgrade to a vita from your kindle or a smartphone. That is because you have the option. Not everyone has that option.
People would go for the Cheaper option as you can get a 12 month smartphone for £10
To use a Vita you would need to buy the Vita and then pay for the phone calls works out a lot more that way
If I would have bought a kindle in Sweden it would not be free 3G Again Straws clutching you are!. It would cost the same as 3G on phone or Vita if I had one. I did not buy it in Sweden and also yes the Kindle 3G is free everywhere that the 3G version is sold as that one of the basis they sell it on
A Vita is not expensive. It's like €200. Paid more than twice the money for my phone.
Expensive is down to the customer not expensive for me or you but for other yes.
You can get a smart phone on contract for cheaper than Vita and pay £10 per month for 12 months.
Again To use a Vita you would need to buy the Vita and then pay for the phone calls, Text, 3G Data ect ect each month or a top up works out a lot more that way
SO over a year that would go from £220/£260 to going up to £400 with a data and call plan.
Cheaper to get a 12 month £10 contract
So your only argument against it is that you have something better and that is making it useless so you are against it?
No if you had read what I have wrote in all my posts we would not be going round in circles would we.

No
I have a
3DS (I don't always carry this depends if I want a blast on Resident Evil)
Vita
Phone
Kindle
All fit in my jacket pockets no problem
Don't want a tablet
Don't want a MP3/4 player
Don't want a camara
Play a few hours of uncharted whilst your out you Vita is flat and then you have no phone till you can charge it. Makes sence I guess.
I just don't understand why people would use it as a phone.
Poor battey
Poor at everything elese appart from gaming.
I will have to agree to disagree with you guys who want a vita phone with the price plan that would be offerd would make it pointless to over 90% of the gaming communitty

If you want to carry one device that does many things badly - just carry a phone. Job done.
The Vita cameras and those of a phone are awful in fact they aren't cameras at all. I carry a separate camera for photography.
Vita and phone screens are useless for reading. A kindle is a far better option or <gasp> real books which are pretty portable already.
Tablets, not even sure why they're in the list. If you think a tablet is an option compared to a phone or a Vita then you are confused about what a tablet is.
Music - again phones and/or Vita don't match up due to lack of storage and poor sound quality, although here phones are at least closer these days. Personally I'm going to use a separate music system and good quality earphones for mobile music but my phone works too just with less music on it.
Phone calls - for this I'm using a phone since the Vita speakers are poor, the device is too big to comfortably use, the battery life is too short and.... oh yeah, it;s not a phone so doesn't have that function.
Games - for this I'll take a Vita since it is better for gaming than phones and/or tablets.
So there you go, I just take the things I want when I want. If you're too weak to carry all those, either be more selective or get a phone and you'll be able to make calls while having a mediocore device that can still take pictures, play games, show text and play music.

Enter: The PS Vita
What people thought they were getting was a hardcore gaming device that could also do everything that can be done on their Smartphones and iOS devices. This didnt happen. What happened was an antiquated model of handheld gaming that worked well in 2006.
No I did not!!
I never thought that the Vita would do everything that a Smartphone or iOS device could do. I thought it would play (as near as possible) PS3 style games but in my hand.
It really does surprise me how many people did not do their research before purchasing their Vitas
You, not "people" thought that the Vita would do everything that a smartphone can do. Now if you had done your research then you would have realised that it is a primary handheld gaming device and NOT a replacement for your smartphone!!
If I am wrong then please show me some evidence that Sony made any such claims to the Vita being an alternative to your smartphone.
As far as I am aware Sony have always advertised the Vita as a gaming device with a few extra features but in no way can they be accused of trying to push the Vita as a viable alternative to your smartphone!
Do your research people!!
I'll keep on checking in to see if you can get some evidence that Sony made about the Vita being a viable replacement for your smartphone. Not second hand reporting or links to some fat geeks blog, but actual statements or advertising by Sony on the above issue. Good luck with that
Bingo
So what part do you not agree with
Marcus8958 wrote:
But accordingly to Tintinb303s post the PS Vita is not a gaming device since Sony has not advertised it to compete with other handheld gaming devices (I NEVER SAID OR EVEN IMPLIED THAT).
CrustyJockStrap wrote:
I do not agree with what Tintin says their. It is a hand held gaming device in compertion with the 3DS
Says what where??
I have NEVER said the Vita was not a hand held gaming device
I may not have mentioned the 3DS in the post but I would assume that most people would understand and realise that they are clammering for a piece of the same market. That being the hand held gaming market.
Oh I did later say

I'm still waiting for any evidence that Sony have pushed the Vita as a viable alternative to your smartphone!
By this I mean ditch your smartphone in favour of your Vita.
Ooh wait a minute, that's because they never have!
Can someone please point out to me where exactly I said that the Vita was not a hand held gaming device?
Sorry my bad I get mixed up some times.
No worries matey ![]()
I think someone (I wonder who that was???) was putting words in my mouth ![]()
I was getting really worked saying to my Missus "But I NEVER said that". Lol ![]()

All so agree. You have hit the nail on the head with that statement.
Maybe in the future there will be a device that does all the above things perfectly. In fact I'm pretty sure there will be but at this point in time if you want to do all of the above things and do them well. By "well" I mean good quality photos, decent sound quality with regards to listening to music, plays AAA title games and plays them well, browse the internet, I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture then you really need separate devices for each job.
If you want all the above and want them done well then at present time this requires numerous devices. Depending on your personal preference on what quality you desire then which devices and the amount of devices you carry will change.

The DAC on most audio devices is so similar you would not be able to tell the difference between one from a phone and one from a million dollar reciever. The difference is that the reciever has more power to run better speakers.
So in terms of sound quality the device can perform depends on how good speakers it can run and what type of media it can play.
For an example a Android phone with support for flac is going to sound much better than every iPod with mp3s if both systems is using the same headphones.
Vita does not support flac so it is on par with iPods and similar.
Storage for music is not really a problem. The vita can store a maximum of 32gb music and android phones can store more than 96gb.
Flac takes aprox 2mb for each minute of music, so in other words you can store more than 800 hours of music on your phone if you use a 64gb memory card and have a 32gb built in memory.
And vita speakers is not poor. The STEREO speakers on the vita is better than most phones.
And finally battery life of the Vita is not poor at all. If you play games it is poor because you are using the hardware to the maximum. But have you ever tried playing a game that looks as good as Uncharted on any apple device? Well then you would have noticed the battery runs out pretty quick.
And on standby the Vita lasts MUCH longer than iPhone 4s.
I have never tried using skype on the Vita but Im pretty sure the battery would last longer than running skype on iPhone 4s.
Using iPhone 4s for reference because it is a very popular phone and there is so many android devices out there the comparisson would be impossible.

Not sure what in the Vita but they are not great

Not storage is not a problem but you can get a 8GB MP3/4 player for cheaper than a 4GB Vita memory card
If people wish to use phones again you can get a phone 16GB mem card cheaper than a 4GB Vita card.
And vita speakers is not poor. The STEREO speakers on the vita is better than most phones.
It is a poor stereo yes it has better speakers than a phone but phone speakers are extremaly poor which do not make the Vita speakers good just better than phone ones

It is poor, Rember when a gaming device could last over 20 hours of gameplay. Yes they were not as powerfull as to day.
But if you are using you VITA to game which is it's Primarry function you have little to no power left to use it as a phone.
And on standby the Vita lasts MUCH longer than iPhone 4s.
I have never tried using skype on the Vita but Im pretty sure the battery would last longer than running skype on iPhone 4s.
Vita is fine on Standby but if people use it for it's primary design and with the phone running in the background would use up the battery quicker.
A Phones stanby is different to the Vita's standby as the Vita will only conect to a network once in a while using less power.
A phone is always connected to a network and their for uses more power.
SO the few hours you get for uncharted and other games would be reduced even more.
And I don't buy Ishi*te and that is not the only reasion but one of them.
Using iPhone 4s for reference because it is a very popular phone and there is so many android devices out there the comparisson would be impossible.
True but as said a Phone is always conected to a network which consumes the power quicker the Vita only conects at intervals which helps to conserve power.
Some games even disable the network feature to conserve power.
Before it is even consided as a phone
Battery needs improments
Better Mic
Better OS
better Apps
Smarter smaller design ( I mean come on it like holding a tablet to your ear)
