Multiplayer over 3G?

Hi all.

What games are playable over 3G? I was gutted when I tried to play Wipeout 2048 over 3G, only to get a message saying "You must use WiFi to do this."

I can do science me.

Re: Multiplayer over 3G?

I couldn't find a good reason to buy a 3G model. Still can't

I guess you can access leaderboards and download ghost times and suchlike on certain games.

apps and stuff, facebook and twits.

Re: Multiplayer over 3G?

wifi is for online multiplayer.

3G is just not good enough, wifi is so much faster and more stable. It would probably cost a fortune too in data even if you could.

this goes for everybody. I think that first respondant was using 'you' as to mean everybody, rather than just you. as in 'you can't levitate'.....

so 3G is for your maps and stuff. slow stuff. non urgent stuff.

Re: Multiplayer over 3G?

You can play everybody's golf Vita daily tournaments over 3G,But you would still be playing alone and uploading your highscore to an online table.

Re: Multiplayer over 3G?

Asynchronous multiplayer is possible in certain games but no games yet support real time or synchronous multiplayer. That may change in the future possibly. I'm sure I've seen one or two games that state they will be when released. At the end of the day 3G has too much latency and is not stable enough for online multiplayer.

[ Edited ]
pressmyfoot: I just connected my 3G Vita to my iPhone 4 via WiFi and had an absolutely flawless race on Wipeout 2048. Not only was it flawless, it was played over a 3G signal strength of approximately 60%. 3G is easily up to the challenge. I suspect that one of two possibilities is true is this case. Either... A: Vodafone (and possibly other operators) have prevented the use of 3G for online gaming from the Vita. Or, B: The game devs haven't coded Wipeout 2048 (in this case) for play over the Vita's 3G connection. The end result of either of these possibilities is RAGE followed by half-hearted lolz. Mostly rage though.

Re: Multiplayer over 3G?

probably a coverage or pricing issue then.

how much data over 3G did that one race use?

the last thing the mobile networks need is a bunch of gamers on 24/7 sucking up all the bandwidth.

it may be that the race seemed smooth and flawless to you but to others in the server you may have been jumping about all over the place, it happened in warhawk a lot.

was it a full server?
