My Vita is flexible?

This is one problem I'm sure a very small amount of users will experience… I had my Vita in a 4Gamers Travel Case (it's a soft case) in my bag, however, it was a bag full of heavy stuff. When I took my Vita out of the bag, I notified the case looked squashed and I immediately started worrying about the condition of the Vita. So I took the Vita out of it's case, noticed no damage at all, turned the console on and it booted up just as it normally would. Phew! I breathed a sigh of relief and put my Vita aside. Later that same day, I went to put Ridge Racer into the PS Vita card slot, and to my shock horror, the Vita looked curved. If I put it on a flat surface, it was almost ark shaped. I thought that can't be normal, and remembered when I had it in my bag full of heavy things. I thought that maybe something was pushing down too hard on one side of the console and had actually made it bend out of shape. I tested the flexibility of the Vita by literally holding the console at the edges trying to bend it and… well, after hearing a loud clunk, it did, I had bent it back to it's original straight shape. :smileyindifferent: Now I'm seriously worried about taking my Vita anywhere. It feels too fragile and the plastic creaks and bends far too easily. I also think the case I have is useless for protecting the Vita, so to anyone considering the 4Gamers soft travel case, don't bother. Has this happened to anyone else perhaps? Or am I being too much of an OCD head?

Re: My Vita is flexible?

I definitely worry about how flexible the Vita is, I'm quite sure it would be possible to bend the Vita enough to crack the OLED screen.

Its why I bought the Thrustmaster case as soon as it was in stock.

Re: My Vita is flexible?

Oh god… I typed that post out on my iPad and put line breaks in, but obviously it didn't work…
Sorry about that people!

It's meant to look like this:

@Alex! I'm pleased it's not just me who is worrying about the flexibility of the Vita! The thing we need to consider is that the Vita is made almost entirely of plastic, so it's not quite as sturdy as an iPad or iPhone for example.

I will be buying a hard case ASAP now. I have to say I feel rather disappointed at the 4Gamers Travel Case. With the name travel in it, you'd think it would be made for taking all over the place, but no. :smileysad:

I'm not sure if this is related but I'm getting a seriously bad amount of errors in my games now, where the only thing I can do is close the game and reopen it. Is there any chance that could be related to the amount of stress I've given my console? :smileysurprised:

Re: My Vita is flexible?

Hopefully not, but its always possible the flexing has caused a dry joint to break on one of the controller boards.  I certainly would like to know what caused the crunching noise when you flexed it back.

Re: My Vita is flexible?

It's a hard sound to describe, maybe I made it sound worse than it actually was. I think it was just the plastic creaking, it was kinda like *tsssggg*. You can recreate the sound by simply putting a little bit of force onto the Vita.

Another thing I remember happening was the Vita turning off randomly by itself. I was racing online on Wipeout then all of a sudden the screen went black, and I had to turn it back on. I hope I haven't damaged it. :smileysad:

Re: My Vita is flexible?

Well. I'd treat the Vita like I'd treat any other expensive electronic object with a glass screen. WITH LOTS OF CARE!

Mine spends all it's time in a travel case inside a bag carefully placed to ensure nothing can squash it or damage it in any way. The bag never gets thrown and has other things inside that all protect it :smileytongue:

Can't be too careful :smileywink:

Re: My Vita is flexible?

Oh god, I was seriously considering the 4Gamers case. I wasn't planning on putting it in any bag but you never know what the future brings. I think a hard case is definitely on the cards then.

Same here, i have a seperate pocket in my bag for it that nothing else goes in so it cant get squashed. Cant be too carefull with that sexy oled screen.
