PS Vita: General Discussion

I didnt expect much, but o boy what a huge let down it was for the Vita owners, half of the new games are still kiddie games, where 3DS get exclusives like the new Castlevania...

i didnt expect from Sony to accept defeat and drop the support so early, they were saying that they will focus on Vita for a while, but that quite the message they sent out...

i'm waiting for Google's Nexus tablet to come out hopefully next month if it's what i want then i'm selling my Vita + 7 games to buy it. even if they had announced 100 games for Vita i'm still getting rid of it in favor of something that will actually get used aka a decent tablet,sorry Sony but i think your Vita is not for me. but i will still buy your PS4 that's for sure.

I am amazed sony devoted 20 minutes to that stupid book thing. Surely that would have been better used for the Vita.

I agree the book thing ok it looks good but am not buying one. I was hoping for a few more games to be announced. Like Killzone what happened to that? Or Ruin (think the name has changed to that now).

Honestly, I'd say that E3 was underwhelming across the board. I've not seen a single game that's been made out to be earth shattering this year. You could almost hear the groans about the Wii U.

I will add that as the years go by E3 has become less relevant than what it used to. Consequently, there are plenty of other expos/ events where games get envailed for the first time, so I don't pin all my hopes on E3 anyway.

And it's not as if the 3DS was in any better position. Heck, I've bought a Vita today because it's only been out for 3 months and it's already got more quality titles than the 3DS which I've had for ages, and still only 2 games have kept my attention.

In fact, I'm not too bothered about too many future releases as there's enough titles already out I need to get round to buying.

I will say this though, if it's not happening already, Sony need to secure an exclusive Monster Hunter game to push more units in Japan. I would've also liked more details on Phantasy Star Online 2 for vita.

Not from Sony's presentation no!

Should not had to go looking for them.

Sony are utterly clueless as to how to market anything.
The opening to their presentation was a motange showing OLD games.

Focus on the future Sony. Not the past. The past won't save your tumbling value. Only innovation and understanding your audience will.

Sadly since the company is ultimately Japanese owned - the business will continue to stagnate while other companies have already moved into the space and are flourishing. Japanese business mentality is notioriously stuborn and single minded. Until they change what is at the very core of their company the ship will continue to sink.

I NEVER thought that I would see a mobile phone have more dominance in the handheld gaming market than a Sony product. Ever. Let alone one made by Apple.. but its happeneing.

By the time the vita finally has a decent line up the ios and android products will already be offering far more power than the current Vita model. The tablets and smartphones will continue to evolve every single year while the Vita will remain the same. 

This is not bad if your business model anticipates this and does everything it can to encourage developers to the platform AND consumers to purchase its titles. From the pricing, regional store differences and absolute lack of quality and dedication form its own in house studios (eg Resistance) its clear that this is never going to happen.

IF Sony had a clue they would have ensured that their launch titles were stellar with high production values. Instead we got Uncharted from a third party developer that was clearly rushed out the door in time for launch and Resistance - which wasn't even out at launch and again suffers from the same poor quality. Its not a bad game - but if you are trying to sell your platform them you should make sure that the games YOU release are groundbreaking.

The truth is - we have all been duped for one last time. 

The vita will gather dust. A few decent titles will come along if we are lucky but its never ever going to be the handheld gaming legend that it could have been with the right talent behind it.
