YouTube!

Imagine being able to record a fight from Tekken, or Call of Duty, or a replay from Fifa, and you can then upload it to the YouTube App.

The more i use Vita, the more i notice it really needs a video sharing app, and i reckon YouTube is the one.

I'd like a Youtube app, then i'd be very happy.

It would make it so much more convienient if you could look at gameplay of a game your considering and the go buy it on the Ps Store.

Re: New apps

Many ppl would disagree here. Most of the ppl would like both. And have different priorities and needs and of course financial abilities.
Vita atm is more value for money, as its technically superior and offers smth our mobiles cannot really replace.
So it would take priority on some occasions over a pad, because its easier/much cheaper to obtain than pads and if it can offer many of its faculties, this would sweeten the deal and postpone and eventual purchace of a par for a later moment (that may actually never come)

All in all, the more appealing it is and complete, the more chances it has for a bigger piece of the market.
Of course dedicated players like us, will choose it for its main purpose alone, i for ex installed none of the extra apps so far, as i already have them on my android.
But on a 9h boat trip, i would prefer to see a film with subs on my vita, or stream a live feed, browse etc between the brakes of high quality gaming.

If vita cant offer that and a pad can, i may opt to carry the pad with then and compromise the high quality gaming a bit, with decent gaming.
See my point, they are entering our ground, we should also enter theirs, but without losing the gaming character.

I m sure though that Sony already made the decision to offer many pad features, as many of the social apps added, are not necessary for gaming and even completely irrelevant (like foursquares)

Re: New apps

Would you rather this games console do what it's designed to do, well, or what it's not designed to do, poorly.

If Sony bend to pressure to make it do stuff a phone/pda/pad/laptop does, they are asking for trouble.

Being unique in what it is, and being good at what it is, is better than joining the rest of the devices and being compared poorly by punters/media.

It's a fine line, but the danger is people will shout for stuff (just because they want more) then not use it or moan about it because "it's not as good as on the iphone".

Leave it well alone Sony.

Re: New apps

Spotify: It make great use of the 3G and its far easier for me to justify why I bought the 3G model in the first place :smileyvery-happy:

Youtube: I actually predict this is coming. Sony don't just go round making a silly foursquare app without making a Youtube app.

BBC iPlayer: Yes, because BBC aren't everywhere already :smileyhappy:

Re: New apps

They want this a social devcice/tool so your going to see app's appearing .. just given sony's record at pushing things out they could be a bit late and those who would have started on the playstation route moved on with a lesser device for it's ability to do social and gaming.

Also the more people sony draws in with the vita, they know they then have a larger market to try and convert to ps3 users also.  Thats another reason why they would want it as more than pure gaming.

Sort of like our friends who have ps3's but no vita .. well, how many of us will then start to try and convince them they should get a vita too ;-)

Word of mouth, one of the greatest and deadliest marketing tools and for that they will want the largest user base they can get.
