The 2 camera's werent really for pictures that you would put in a photo album, just mainly for interaction, e.g. the Augemented Reality cards, face tracking, colour picking (Frobisher, im looking at you here), so i think the 2megapixel (i could be wrong) cameras were just designed as an addition method of interaction rather than actual photo taking

They're 640 x 480.

Can't be many devices where the screen has a higher resolution than the camera...

I wouldn't even class them as cameras , they remind me of the cameras on the first camera phones where you'd get a better picture if you used a pen and paper.I class them purple.

They are 0.3MP and have 72dpi. My cheapo £20 Sony/Ericsson phone has a better camera. >.>

You could remove the 640x480 pixel VGA quality (0.3 MP) camera and replace it with a better one

They sacrificed the image quality of the camera for performance and so you could use it for AR games.
