Hey guys,
Thought i would create this mini faq regarding PSOne classics, as many people have questions, and multiple threads regarding firmware 1.80 and classics, its hard to find answers. Also, it may stop the duplication of questions.
1) How do i get PSOne Classics
Currently (28/08/2012) the only method is to download the PSOne classic game you want onto a PS3. Leave it in its "install bubble" phase. Connect the Vita using the USB cable. On the Vita, go to
Content Manager > PS3 to PSVita > Apps > PlayStation > Applications Downloaded on the PS3 > choose the game.
Hopefully tomorrow (29/08/2012) the PS Store will be updated with PSOne classics, and the download list should reflect direct downloads for already purchased games, though this is yet to happen so cannot be certain.
2) How do i change the screen size of the game.
On the game, keep your finger on the screen for a few seconds. An emulator settings menu will appear, which has the options under “Other Settings”, allowing you to choose between Original (default), Normal (fits to screen height, retaining 4:3 resolution), Zoom (i think keeps 4:3 resolution, but fits to the width, so top and bottom cut off abit) and Full (stretched 16:9 ratio, full screen, dont lose any of the game)
3) What games are playable on the PSVita?
Currently, the list of playable games can be found at the EU PlayStation Blog.
Please note, these games listed as compatabile for the EU in general, some not yet be available in certain regions (i dont know on this, but just to be safe than sorry).
4) How do I get the analogue stick to work to move rather than D-pad
This is title specific (whether it supported the analogue stick originally or not)
Touch the screen > Choose “Controller Settings” > Choose “Switch Modes” > Pick “Analogue”.
If the analogue stick does not work, the game possibly didn’t support it, and you have to put it back into “Digital” mode. A small, user acknowledged list at the bottom of this post has the currently known games that support “Analogue” control
5) How do I get my past saves from my PS3 to my PSVita
To get the gamesaves from your PS3 to your PSVita, connect the Vita to the PS3 via USB
Go to Content Manager > PS3 to PSVita > Applications > Saved Data PlayStation
And choose the save you wish to copy.
Copy it to the memory card entitled [GAME NAME] 1 (This is the memory card for that specific game, the game only reads 1 of the 2 for each game as far as I am aware).
6) My game asks me to "Switch Disks" (MGS for example), How do i do this?
Some games came on more than one disk, such as Metal Gear Solid.
To switch disks.
Touch the screen > Switch Disks > Choose Disk.
7) I got the game on my Vita, I have a PS3, need to free space, but don’t want to redownload…
You can copy the games to the PS3 for storing, without them annoying “Install Bubbles” cluttering up the game category of the XMB. This actually applies for PSVita, PSP and Mini downloads too.
First, copy the games onto the Vita from the “Install Bubbles” (or if directly downloaded, just keep them on the Vita).
Connect the PSVita to the PS3 via USB and go on to Content Manager
PSVita to PS3 > Applications > PlayStation > Choose the game.
They are now on the PS3, but not in the install bubbles, so you don’t have clutter on the XMB.
To copy them back, similar to before, but with a slight change:
Content Manager > PS3 to PSVita > Apps > PlayStation > Applications Copied from the PSVita > Choose game.
The same applies for PSP / PSVita Games / Minis, except you choose PSP/Other (PSP games and Minis) or PSVita under Applications rather than PlayStation.
The same method can be used to retrieve you gamesaves from the Vita for continuation on the PS3, but you choose the Savedata section instead.
This is ideal for swapping memory cards, or if you wish to switch games on the card, though the copying process is kinda slow, its not half as bad as re-downloading it, and then copying it across to the Vita.
Any other questions, please ask, and hopefully we as a community will be able to keep things up to date and answer all queries

Can you change the control setup of ps1 titles? More specifically, can you make it so the left analog stick can be used instead of the d pad? Games like crash bandicoot are a nightmare to play with the d pad.
The use of the Analogue sticks is purely down to whether the original supported the analogue sticks.
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped DOES support the analogue stick.
To set it, touch the screen for a few seconds.
Choose the top option (Controller settings)
Bottom option is "Switch Modes". Set this to Analogue
A message will appear saying something about if the title doesnt support analogue to choose digital (dpad). I dont know which games do or dont support analogue sticks, but i can confirm that Crash Bandicoot 3 does at least
List of currently confirmed "Analogue" mode working titles:
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Silent Hill

RE 2 swicth disc's you need to reset the game and not the change disc option. Not sure if you want to add that to the Original post ![]()
