PS Vita: General Discussion

Ok, I'm going to buck the trend and big up Game. I pitched up at my local store after picking my Bro's Vita from HMV and to cut a long story short they couldn't have been more helpful. I had the WIFI pe-ordered along with a couple of games and between Game Head Ofice, my Credit Card provider and some creative thinking I left the store with both my Vita and faith in humanity restored. I really feel sorry for the Game employees, they are trying their best in a difficult environment. I think people need to realise that Game are sometimes at the mercy of 3rd party suppliers who may have their own problems too. Oh and their stock of 3G units arrived while I was instore at about 08.45. So many thanks to the staff at Game okay the vita cost me a little more than HMV but I can live with that especially when the service was so good (just for fairness HMV were also very good had everything well sorted) well done the high street.

I decided to pick up Uncharted Golden Abyss from retail because the online prices weren't that much cheaper then the suggested retail price of £40.

As I walked into Game something seemed incredibly strange as it was dead in there and when I looked at the price they were charging for Uncharted I began to feel like I had been wasting my time. They were charging £44.99 for it, ie. the same price as all their console titles. I'm honestly not that surprised, but I still wouldn't pay that much for it. They also had a pretty poor offering of accessories so I just decided to leave.

Fortunately there was a Grainger Games around the corner and I picked up the game for £39 (usually they try to undercut Game by £1, but they must have been laughing when Game revealed their prices) and there were a lot more people in there too. They did mess up slightly by forgetting to give me the game manual, but that's a small niggle that I'm not too bothered about. Their Vita bundles were also a lot more desirable then Game's, but I already have a Vita.

I also walked into Gamestation as well to see if they had any more stuff in stock (they didn't), but there were 2 people behind me and they stopped when they saw the Vita display and then walked straight out again.

I guess Game really must be in trouble, in my area at least.

I think it needs to be noted that , although the GAME staff may have been friendly/helpful, you NEED to make sure you get your stock for something as important as a new handheld/console/any merchandise release AT LEAST THE DAY BEFORE.

You can't blame it on Sony or your courier if it is happening to every one of your Game stores.

It's bad practice.

What's worse is that your competitior HMV is just around the corner from you offering exactly the same price on a 3G Vita, yet they are giving either UNCHARTED or FIFA FOR FREE !!!

AFAIK Vita games don't have manuals, they are digital on the card itself.  It was done that way because the retail and digital versions are identical.

I think that Uncharted has no game manual anyway.

Bought mine from Game and it was sealed (I broke the seal myself), no game manual inside.

Today has left a long term GAME customer seriously annoyed.  They're bundles were an absolute disgrace - I would have expected them to have at least come close to their online bundles but no dice.

I have used GAME for every console release going back donkeys years and I try to support the high street.  But today was the final nail in the coffin.  Unfortunately I had already preloaded a GAME gift card so I had to go ahead with the purchase.

Thing is, the staff in my local store are absolutely fantastic - but I think GAME are trying to push people to use their online store and close down the high street ones.

A great great shame.

I don't think GAME could handled the Vita any worse if they'd tried

Just picked up my Wifi model and Uncharted from GAME.

The only problem was that I pre-ordered the 16GB memory card but Sony had only sent them 2, I was offered the 8GB instead or I could leave my number and they would call me when they had some.

I went for the 8GB because without it the Vita would have been almost useless.

The majority of the games do not have manuals although there is the odd exception. I believe Ragnarok Odyssey in Japan has a manual probably because it's an RPG.
