PS Vita: General Discussion

This will be good as I can't Skype on my phone as it does not have a front camera unlike the vita.

I love the vibrant colours on the screen in the example pic, like the Vitas crappy cameras will look REMOTELY like that.

That said, I'm still looking forward to this as it could be handy.  I wonder if it will force the Vita to stay connected to WiFi in standby though?  Even moreso, I wonder if lets you voice chat over Skype while in a game?

Hmm, I'm starting to doubt the usefulness of this app then as neither of the people I call on Skype own a Sony console and at least one of them likes to just sit and chat for hours.  Not good if that prevents me from switching back to my game.

Also the video chat is going to suck as the camera is in the wrong place.  The few times I have used the camera its been super hard to use, because if you are looking at the Vita normally the camera looks at the right side of your face. 

A really crap design decision to put it on the far right of the console, trying to line it up to create my Virtua Tennis character was a nightmare.  I had to move the console so I was staring at the face buttons, while trying to glance to the left to see if it was lined up yet.  Its going to look really weird on Skype for the same reason.

Its a shame, its one of the few design flaws I find with the Vita.  The only other one is the rear touch pad not being the same size as the touch screen, makes the games where you are supposed to squash/touch something that is on the screen really awkward, as you end up touching the bottom BELOW the touch pad.

they might update the skype app overtime if people want to chat while in games, at least they are bringing some stuff out a lot of people have been moaning about wanting for ages.

Now theres only psone classics and remote play left i think. ill probably just use skype for messaging unless i need to vid chat for whatever reason.

Glad this app is finally cominh out, though I don't know any friends that use Skype, so probably won't ever use it.
