why it is primerraly a games console, the 3g helps with near, updating leader boards and other stuff

use a phone it will do a better job.

You aren't paying for the phone number, you are paying for the data service which you CAN use.  The phone number is just a side effect of using the 3G network, think of it merely as a way for the network to identify you.

I agree that the Vita should let you use SMS, however to make it viable as a full phone would have needed a much bigger battery, require licensing more patents (thus increasing the price) and people would have done nothing but complain because of not being able to hold it up to your face to make calls, or having a flat bettery.

Hate to sound like a spoilt brat, but still think that skype leaving out the Instant messaging is a bit of a let down.

IMO Sony missed a trick by not having skype on the ps3 as well. Some, if not most ps3 owners have the move camera just gathering dust. Would've been a bit more towards the 'cross play' functionality between vita and the console.(and the rest of the world)

Probably just meant that nobody would use the vita's party app. (which I've never used btw)

Still.... cool that I can video chat to my sister in sydney, halfway through a round of everybodys golf.

did you sort out skype error? what I think it may be is skype takes blocked contacts as contacts so if you have a lot of blocked contacts I think that is what makes it fail to load them >what I did was delete my blocked contacts list and a few I dont call any more and skype worked ok
