PS Vita: General Discussion

I'm a little surprised to see that my PS Vita doesn't have Skype.

Skype is a pretty big part of why I got the Vita, so I'm a little worried. Anyone know what happened to it?

Yes neither Skype nor Netflix are available yet. I presume they've been delayed.

They have said that Skype will be released soon after release.

I hope so. I really want Skype on vita because I don't have a webcam and I want to talk to my friend who is out in Dubai for 6 weeks.

While searching around for the missing Skype app, I did find several pages which emphasized that the original announcements explicitly only mentioned "voice". The general interpretation seems to be that video chat isn't planned.

I hope this isn't the case; I'd very much like video chat as well.

Sony did an update about 30 minutes ago. Netflix for the Ps Vita is now working just fine

No it's not. Let me remind you, this is the English section of the European forums.

Netflix is only currently available in the US.

Hello everybody!

I heard that Skype will be @ the PSN store for the end of this month (March) for the EU market!

It could be that it's indeed only voice supported, but can't find any reliable info on it (not official that is).

And mayB that's the reason why it isn't released yet in the EU? It could B that the Skype App is undergoing some improvements  B4 being released over here (like Video supp)??

Anyway, for those who really, really want it ASAP. Create a US PSN account! And download the App from there.

It’s pretty easy with the PS-Vita to change account without changing your memory cart – AND you can use the App’s once downloaded on any account on your Vita).

In the meantime, hope Sony is doing its utmost to make the Vita a real killer machine, because it has everything it needs (hardware speaking)!

Argh, I just downloaded Netflix using a US account and Skype didn't seem to be listed so I switched back to my UK account.  Really can't be bothered to go through that hassle again as JUST got my icons back in the right places.

I guess I can wait, got Skype on my phone anyway.  But I was curious to see what the quality was like on the Vita.
