I would rather they hurry up and add more PSP titles to the compatibility list than rush out Skype, however much I like the idea of Skype on my Vita.

I think a few people would prefer PSone support first too.

The problem though is that Sony, as always, made a big deal out of all the functionality the Vita was going to have but then delivered a small portion of it on launch.  Anyone knowing Sonys history should have expected this, but its still perfectly fair to be annoyed at Sony for doing this - again.

It seems more and more manufacturers seem to think this is alright these days.  Just because we expect them to be underhanded and underdeliver on their promises, certainly doesn't mean we have to be quiet about it and consider it acceptable.

To right.

I would rather have my Vita handled gaming device play my Ps1 games.

He is complaing of a expensive PSP emulator!

No symapathy should have done research before spending £215 to know it was not out at launch.

And why pay £215 when you can get SKYPE on a PC with no extra cost?

I guess lack of research

As far as asking someone to do their research. I suggest you look at Sony's Playstation Vita Applications page:

http://us.playstation.com/psvita/apps/

Correct me if I am wrong, but Skype is listed on the page, and there is no subnote stating "coming soon".

I don't know what you expect? I don't make it a habit of scouring the internet for each and every feature on a unit to see if the manufacturer is lying about something. Plus, for early adopters, there was no warning that Skype did not exist, again, I direct you to the above page.

Please use plain text.

While I agree that the VIta is first and foremost a gaming console, I fail to see where getting skype to the unit would hinder PS1 compatibility in any way. Skype is an app, not a system compatibility layer. Although I do blame Sony for Skype's absense, I highly doubt the same people would be working on both tasks.

Honesty, they need both features.

Skype isn't a Sony product so they wouldn't be working on it in the first place. Skype is owned by Microsoft and its most like an internal development team within the Skype division itself working on it so Sony has no control over its development or release. The only involvement Sony would have is approval of the app.

I don't follow the US site.

I follow the UK site

http://uk.playstation.com/psvitasystem/#select-tab-features

Skype had said it would no on a launch and so did SCEE

Though Skype is now listed on the Europe site it is still not listed on the skype site.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

Re: Skype

Hello Everybody!!

For those waiting impatiently … IT’S THERE!!!

Visit the Skype website and you’ll find the PS Vita on the list of machines supported.

http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/get-skype/on-your-ps-vita/

I also read that it should be downloadable on the PSN today (25/04/2012)! Haven’t checked it yet.

Text on the Skype website:

Making calls and playing games just got easier

Make voice and video calls over 3G and WiFi2 from your PS Vita and keep in touch with anyone, anywhere in the world. Whether you’re playing a game or browsing the web, Skype is always on, so friends and family can always stay in contact.

Simply download Skype for free from the PlayStation®Store on your PS Vita, and get talking in minutes.

Talk face-to-face over video

Talk face-to-face with people on Skype with the PS Vita’s front camera or show them what's around you with the rear camera – it’s as if they’re right there with you.

Re: Skype

It is supposed to be coming to the PS Store today with the EU store update but, as yet, i have not been able to find it. Anyone with ideas of when it arrives?

Re: Skype

EU store updates usually between 3-6pm UK time (UTC+1). Most weeks, around 4pm.

Re: Skype

Nice one. What an odd time to update. Overnight would seem a better choice......as long as it goes on, i don't mind.
