Dont worry, thats a normal thing in OLED screens, every vita has it on the screen.

yea i dnt think im liken this ps vita to much its not worth the 249.99 with some bs screen when watching netflix n a dark black screens come up u got the anoying splash black spots they should give us some kind of discount or gift card couse im thinking of just returning it till they fix the problem n spend my money on something worth it they basicly played us they sold us a gimic sony youre loosen youre touch

It's not Sony's fault and there is nothing they can do to fix it. It's the nature of OLED screens and nothing can be done about it. If that's the way you feel then I suggest you don't buy any devices that use an OLED screen as you will be disappointed.

My guess would be that a comparable IPS screen would be thicker (so would need a redesign to fit), be more expensive to manufacture and use more power. Otherwise, there would be no good reason to use OLED.
I really don't understand why people are so upset. The Vita was never designed to be played in total darkness and at least it doesn't have the utterly atroacious screen the PSP had.
