Suggestions for the Vita's OS development-team (Quick Settings, Tabbed / Bundled feeds)

Adding to a blogpost I linked here earlier, I made some mock-ups to illustrate some of the changes I'd love to see in the Vita's OS.

I hope the mods don't mind me linking to my own blog, but I don't want to bore everyone by posting a wall of text here. If you're interested, you can click the link and read my full list of suggestions there.

Here are the suggestions I quicky visualized:

Wifi / 3G switches on the Quick Settings screen

Bundled items in the game/app feeds
You know those lists you can see when scrolling down an app or game's Live Screen, right?
Wouldn't it be great if similar items got bundled automatically so the feed would remain short and tidy?

Tabs in the game/app feed
In addition to the previous suggestion, a way to quickly switch between different types of updates using tabs would be great!

I think the only one of those I'd like would be the 3G + wifi toggles. the rest seem a bit pointless if I'm honest.

I guess that depends on how you use your Vita.
I like the social part of gaming, too. So that includes beating High Scores and comparing Trophies and such.

In that case, I think the above enhancements I suggested are far from pointless.

I like the social part too, but I just think the lists should stay nice and simple and just be a continuous feed of info that's happened. Most peoples friends lists aren't full enough for that to update rapidly enough, and would sit stagnant for ages at a time giving the illusion the games had died prematurely.

Right... but wouldn't bundled updates and tabs to filter the lists to easily get to the kind of updates you want to see make it... simple and easy?

Anyway, on a somewhat related note: I think all of the apps (Friends, Messages, Trophies, etc) should be better connected and integrated with eachother. Much like how Facebook deals with stuff.

It would definitely be clearer, and simpler to find specific types of updates. However there isn't really a fast enough stream to justify it.

On that somewhat related note, I agree. I think if you sign into PSN it should remain signed in fully like the PS3, or at least have an option to be.

Well, if you have no more than, say, 20 friends... sure. But I have about 80, maybe 90 friends and most of them are pretty active.

And YES, especially if you're on Wifi, at home with a charger at your disposal you should be able to be online constantly. It would be great if you could set up some custom preferences like that for specific wifi-networks (home / work, for example).

I have 90, however not all of them have Vitas and they certainly don't all play the same games :smileywink:

There's still plenty of time for this sort of thing to be implemented(always on). Sony just need to see that lots of people want it! The toggles wouldn't go amiss either!

Ah, yes... but check out the general feed which includes all games and all apps (you can find that particular feed in the Near app). ;-)

And sure, yeah, things will improve. But I hope they're determined to do a much better job than they have been doing these past few years with the PS3. At least in terms of speed, but hopefully in quality too.
