The early bird and all that   it came on line at 2:30 this morning apparently. I realised when I tried to go on near at 7:30

I was surprised to see no other topics about this! No mention on the PlayStation Blog either. >.<

I still have music on the PlayStation Store, Near and all over the LiveArea UI. Maybe the Store music/Near music now turns off with the option of music on the Vita main screen?

EDIT: Yep, that's it. The System Music option in the Vita sound options now turns off the music for Near and the PlayStation Store.

@ FooFan Yes when I initially went onto to Near after updating; no music. I'll mess with settings later as I have to go but yeah it looks like you're right. No loss as I hated the music as it reminds me of horrid cutesy games on the Wii

PS Vita System Software version 1.66 will be released on 04/04/12. This is a forced update and will contain the following main features:

• [Notification Alert] setting added to Settings > [Sound & Display]
• [After 10 Minutes] option added to Settings > [Power Save Settings]
• An arrow icon is introduced to show when PS Vita finds new activities in LiveArea.
• The Caps Lock icon in the On-Screen Keyboard can now be fixed to allow a continuous string of upper case text.

Other features also included:

• The [System Music] setting in Settings > [Sound & Display] now affects BGM in PS Store, near and Sign-Up screens as well as the Home menu.
• When searching for location data, users now have the option to ‘Retry’ and ‘Cancel’ when a failure occurs.
• A progress bar is introduced for application installation.
• A direct link to PlayStation Store is made available for new applications that users may discover on near.
• Users can now update data at any time within near, provided they are within the same location.
• The display time of notification alerts has been reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
• Functional improvements have been made in the following games and applications: Unit 13, Gravity Daze, near.
