Re: The Vita is all good and all, but where does it fit into my life?

I want a handheld because i prefer being able to just sit on my couch and play with my handheld whilst watching south park or whatever on the television.
I like being able to just grab my PSP and just instantly go into a game of Monster Hunter without turning my PS3 on, turning my television on and doing other sh*t.
The ease of use is the best thing about handhelds. If you've got to live somewhere else for awhile and you don't want to lug around your PS3, the PS Vita is perfect for it.
I think the PS Vita is portable PS3, if you're staying in a hotel you can bring it.. if you're staying at your nans you can bring it. If you're staying at your mates you can bring it.
If you're on a train for a couple of hours going to London from Manchester then it's great to bring it also.
An iPhone is better if you just want to play on a game for a couple of minutes whilst waiting at a bus stop. (angry birds etc.)
However if you know you're going to be somewhere for a couple of hours then a gaming handheld is the best choice.

Re: The Vita is all good and all, but where does it fit into my life?

I'm different, I am someone who prefers handheld consoles over home consoles. It's the extra convience that makes them a joy to play for me. Whereas with the PS3, I have to sit in my gaming chair, facing dead on to the TV unable to play elsewhere, portable consoles allow me to pause a game, move somewhere else in the house and continue playing right where I left off. I like to be able to enjoy the same gaming experience no matter where I am or where I'm sitting, but not only that, I love having the ability to put the console to sleep, so I can resume exactly where I was whenever I want.

I don't exactly have a busy life, I have plenty of free time, but there are times where I would rather pick up my 3DS or PSPgo and play about 15-30 minutes to fill in some time. Booting up the PS3 and getting myself in the right position to play and having to find a save point before shutting down just annoys me tbh. I also utterly hate online multiplayer in games because of the fact that you're not able to pause the game whenever you want, and you usually get a punishment for quitting a game halfway through. I don't like feeling restricted like that.

The other thing about the Vita that makes it different to a home console is it's control inputs. Because the console IS the controller, it means that there's a level of interactivity that just isn't there on any home console. Being able to tilt the entire system around, having front touch and back touch, cameras, as well as standard buttons and sticks, is something unique and more immersive than what's been done before.

The games lineup isn't looking anything short of spectacular either. Games such as Wipeout, Uncharted, Gravity Daze, Super Stardust, Gravity Daze, Ridge Racer, Unit 13, ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet etc, are what appeal to me, and most of them aren't available on PS3. :smileyhappy:

Just so you know, there is a Sony tablet already out there with PlayStation functionality built in. It's called the Sony Tablet S. Maybe this is for you. :smileyhappy:

Ah never heard of that, thanks for the link :smileytongue: Shame its similar to the Xperia Play though, the games on it are terrible :smileysad: You can't get the games you can on the PS Vita sadly.
But I guess that's because it would raise its price so high no one would buy it, like someone said in a earlier comment.

Uncharted Golden Abyss. Call me crazy, but I can justify spending £230, for it.

To tell you the truth I don't really use handhelds a lot, but I don't like being restricted in which games I can play because of exclusives. This is why I own an xbox 360, ps3, wii, psp and a PC.

I'm forever using buses to go to appointments, so it's handy for me. It's also something I can play in bed without having to sit up on the PS3 or XBOX, and I occasionally travel on trains (usually to London) so it'd be a good play then too.
