this guy has a point though, i've seen way worse and the spots do show up during gameplay, one of my friends had to replace his twice, both of which had black lines across the screen, it was so bad at first we thought it was just the way the his screen protector was applied but that wasnt the case.
Every vita i've seen has this bleeding problem but some are so apparent they do warrent a replacement, as much as i love my vita and have no plans on replacing it anytime soon i do hope sony fixes this issue in later models.

This is an issue with the OLED, not the capacitive touch element as others have mentioned.
Between the OLED and glass there is nothing. The touch digitizer goes around the outside edge of the screen, not on top of it.
This is an issue that I have not seen on any other OLED Display, my Zune HD doesn't suffer from it, nor does the Omnia 7, Samsung Galaxy S I have had nor the nokia im currently using.
I'd imagine this is something that a by product of mass producing the screens cheaply. This is probably the first OLED device produces for a huge number. Yes smart phone sell in the millions but there probably isn't as much preassue to keep costs down due to being sold on contract for a high value.
Sony (samsung) dropped the ball here, Very disappointing that one main benefit of OLED has been abused.

I have this spot on my nose. It's tiny and nobody has noticed yet but using macro mode and a long exposure with flash it looks awful on a 50" screen. I daren't leave the house. What to do........
That's not a spot, it's a dead pixel, you should return your nose and sue your mother.

This isn't a 'problem'. It doesn't effect how you play nor does it interfere your gameplay. Stop moaning.
Guess what, it IS a problem and it affects the gameplay in the sense that just last night I was playing Uncharted and everytime there's a black screen or a loading screen instead of watching just that beautifull golden medallion spinning I also see that pattern all over the screen!
I'm sure that if a game comes out that has lots of dark scenes like most horror games that issue with the OLED screen will affect the way you see the game.
If it isn't a problem to you, I respect that, but it will be a problem to many people who spent so much money on a handheld and still have to deal and accept something that just shouldn't be there. As far as I am concerned, the biggest advantage of OLED screen is that each pixel has it's own light source, no need for backlight like LCD (reason why the contrast is so good), so if the screen is black why is there still light coming trhough?
I'll check more information on this and I'll moan as much as I want, if you don't like it don't read it.
World would be a fantastic place if everyone accepted everything and did nothing about it.... NOT!

If the screen, digitizer and front glass is not bonded then why did fixit have to bake to PS Vita front assembly to soften the adhesive to get the front plastic off the screen ???
Have a read here

The point is the screen is bonded to the front glass and as such an adhesive had to be used and this is the most likely cause for the random pattern everyone is seeing and every OLED screen has this issue/pattern because every screen is bonded.

Yes, that makes sense, the PSP had a problem, sometimes dust would go between the screen and the plastic, this way I don't think dust can get trough there. It would just be fantastic that the "glue" used to bond them would dry and the pattern disappear with time, but I don't have my hopes very high.
But then again, if that is what we are seeing, couldn't they just improve their "bonding" method so we would not have this isuue?
If some samsung/sony engeneer ever reads this will probably scream in agony "YOU THINK IT'S THAT EASY???!!!!!" hehehe

I don't have an issue with the black screens - I'm never playing in the dark, so I'm not that worred - what worries my is the new lines that have appeared on the screen when looking at anything pure white..
If I look at wipeout 2048's menu's or anything bright white like a webpage / image - theres very faint black lines going across the screen in a few places [like faint shadows] - THEY annoy me, but the shop said 'it's normal' ?
Anyone else got them?
