Transferring everything to a replacement vita -how ?

I have a replacement 3g vita as my current one has a fault and needs to go back.

 

I presume I can NOT just shut it down, pull the memory card and sim and game cartridge and plug them into the new vita, go through new vita setup.

 

I am currently doing a backup using content manager to my laptop over usb with content manager also installed on the pc on the assumption that is the correct first step.

  I am not sure what the next steps would be for as painless a change over as possible.

 

Any advice/experience of doing this welcome.

You can use either a PS3 of a PC can't you via the content manager app on the Vita and installing Content Manager Assistant on your PC (If using the PC method)

Make sure you deactivate the old faulty Vita.
