UPnP coming to vita anytime soon?

I got my vita connected up to psn no problem but my nat type is 3, where the nat type of my ps3 is 2 & the only difference is ps3 has UPnP which i have enabled on modem/router & ps3 & the vita does not have a option for UPnP at all i have tried the psn ports under ps3 faqs on the main ps website & it don't work unless i put them in wrong but i don't think so or the vita uses different ports, i would not mind but i can't connect online with resistance: burning skies,

So are sony going to do a update with UPnP anytime soon?

Hi Bluespook,

forwarding those ports to the Vita will effect the PS3s ability to use those ports.

Describe your home network. What brand and model is your modem/router? Do both the PS3 and the Vita connect the same way?

Have you tried turning the router off and on again, then connecting the Vita with the PS3 turned off?

Hi Crash,

UPnP has nothing to do with media streaming.

UPnP is also known as plug & play which when enabled on devices & on modem/router it makes them work alot better as it preatty much picks up the required ports automaticlly for the devices, there is more tech to it but thats all i been told about it.

My ps3 currently runs of a lan cable due to having to as my sony 7.1 surrond sound headset interferes with the wireless signal (why the dongle for it was wireless not bluetooth is beyond me) but reguardless i get type 2 & same download speed & upload speed when it on wireless too,

my isp is telstra

my modem is a technicolor network gateway TG587n

I turn the modem off every night & have tried turning it on & off when useing vita & not useing it.

When you run the PS3 wirelessly do you get the same results as when you run it wired? (ie Nat type 2)

If you disable UPnP on the router does NAT type 2 turn to NAT type 3 on the PS3?

On the headset interference issue, a wired connection is far better than a wireless G connection anyway but if you'd rather run wireless, what happens if you plug the Headset dongle into an USB extension cable and move it futher from the PS3?

I get type 2 with lan & wireless when UPnP is active,

I just disabled UPnP on the ps3 & bingo i get a type 3 connection so that just confirmed it why i get a type 3 on my vita is because it don't have UPnP.

Re: UPnP coming to vita anytime soon?

Yep, I'd go along with that.

Thomson/Technicolor routers are notoriously hard to port forward and like I said, if you port forward to your Vita it will stop those ports getting to your PS3.

I suggest you take your query to Whirlpool

and do give them as much technical information as you can.
