You "think"? Why don't you know - it takes 30 secs to check....
Logon to your router - check software version at bottom.
There are two types of BT Home Hub - A & B. Newer ones are B, I suspect people having problems are on A, but taht's just my guess.

Has the BT HomeHub got a PPPOE Username & Password? If so,you could setup your PS Vita Wireless Network using the PPPOE method,it will probably give you a NAT Type 1(it's a kind of spoof Nat Type 1).This method usually helps people whom are having Multiplayer & connection issues.

I've got a type A, very tempted to upgrade if I felt confident it would resolve my issue.
Need more people to say. Mine is type B - no problem.

For the life of me I can't see where the software version is listed in my hub's browser page. That said I'm assuming I've got the "B" type as I've just had the service installed on Tuesday.

Hopefully this will help a few people out.
I'm using a BT Home Hub 2.0 (Type A) myself, and I've had exactly the same problems with a permanent NAT Type 3.
Putting the device in the router's DMZ would result in no internet connection being recognised at all on the device, and any set of ports being mapped would still return a Type 3.
I believe this is down to the port list that is given from Sony, as for a test, I set up a port forwarding application to forward both TCP and UDP ports 1 through to 65534 and pointed this towards the Vita (Which for the record, shows up as 'unknown-<mac address here>')
On doing this, I immediately got a Type 2 NAT. So port forwarding DOES work, there's simply a port range that's being used that nobody seems to know, and uPnP is proving to be unreliable as hell.
If you CAN get a change of router I'd strongly suggest it, but as a temporary fix until you do, try the above and let me know how you get on.

Ahh well it is well hidden - and I mean that seriously. It's hidden where you wouldn't think to look at the very bottom of any of teh Router admin pages!
Scroll all the way down to where you'd expect to see copywright notices and the software version is listed there....
