Separate but related to LBP Vita, here is a video of a guy using a Vita to interact with LBP2 running on PS3.
Looks kind of interesting - it certainly works well from a technical perspective...

Some points of note:
1) Vita and PS3 communicate over WAN, so you can be in the same room with the Vita, or interacting remotely
2) Gameplay on Vita and PS3 can be either complimentary, or you can use the Vita as a controller for the PS3 with extra stuff to do on the Vita screen
3) To design the levels for Vita you need a Vita (LBP Vita presumably), but to play, it seems you just need a Vita and you can dl the content from the PS3.
4) Your sackboy can pass between the consoles. At the end of the vid, Sackboy jumps from the PS3 onto the Vita via a Pipe (very Mario!).

I don't think Ninty can be accused of copying Sony with this stuff. I mean, Sony had tech demo's of basic console interaction with the PSP and of course there was always remote play and the Sony Tablets with their dlna enabled conent sharing.
On PC there have been many examples of content sharing for several years now.
Even so, Ninty seem to have gone their own way with the Wii Tablet - it may have have taken some inspiration from Sony and other pad manufacturer's but they're doing a very low tech, Wii specific implementation.
What this demo does show though, is that having two separate screens for game data isn't desirable - the guy while playing is struggling to know what is happening on which screen. For a game like LBP this works OK - other action game types will struggle to implement it effectively. RPGs might be OK, but then again, with the slower paced nature of an RPG, why not just keep everything on the main screen...
I think Ninty will get this problem with their tablet - people will find it an impediment to gameplay rather than a boost.

Nintie are probably the forerunners in this regard - hooking GBAs up to GameCubes anyone?
Where it can be most effective is in a multiple-players-on-one-console setting, where the players have a shared playing area but their own secret stats or objectives on the little screen. Unfortunately, price of admission is just too high to make this viable for many people.

Indeed.
I am sure they had Gameboy Advanced and N64 hook up as well.
So yeah what sony did with PSP and Ps3 and now PS3 and Vita is a advance on that.
Nintendo have speard of and gone anther way about it.
So yeah I would say Nintendo started all this and Sony took idea's from what they did and done something simular

Well while we're taking a look back, Dreamcast was the first system to have this link implemented formally. That went well for them.

No in Japan it was the N64 and Gameboy
Dreamcast came a little later
Sony even tried it back then with the pocket station that failed.

No Gameboy and N64 hookup as far as I'm aware. I believe Gameboy and GameCube connectivity was the first one for them.

Saw a Video of it ages ago but I guess Nintendo may have just been showcasing.
