Vita Firmware v 1.61 has now been released.Here is what it contains:

In preparation for Wednesday’s wide release of PS Vita, tonight we’re making System Software Update (v1.61) available for download. If you are just turning on your PlayStation Vita for the first time, this update will add the following features:

• A new application, (Maps), has been added to the home screen.
• In addition to photos, you can now take videos using the Photo application.
• You can now publish stories about the products that you rate in PlayStation Store to Facebook.
• In near, players’ information is now displayed on the Discoveries screen. On this screen, a list of the online IDs of up to 100 players that you have encountered, and the number of times that you encountered each player, are displayed. Tap an online ID to display that player’s profile screen.
• The Mac OS version of Content Manager Assistant for PlayStation has been released. The Windows version has also been updated.

You can download Content Manager Assistant from here. Refer to the website to find out how to install the application.

If you have already updated your PS Vita to 1.60, 1.61 will improve certain aspects of the system software.

There are a few ways to update the firmware on your PS Vita:

• Select “System Update” under the “Settings” menu and download the firmware directly to your PS Vita over Wi-Fi.
• Connect your PS Vita to a PS3 or a PC/Mac and update via Content Manager.

A minor error has been identified with the new PS Vita 1.61 update released today.  The 'New Features' screen at the start of the update still contains details of the previous firmware version (1.60). 

To re-iterate, this new update (1.61) only improves system software stability.

^Patch notes need patching lol. On the upside, coming back from standby is instant now.

I'm getting this error when I'm trying to connect via PC link....

"The server is currently down for maintenance...(C0-11023-7)

Mine has just arrived! In the setup process, it says a system update is required, you hit OK and it takes you back to the 'Do you want to use you account on the Vita'. You have to select 'no' to set up a temporary account first!

There was a thread posted by one of the community guys a out this endless loop. As already mentioned you have to choose no when asked to setup a new or enter an existing account. Once you've set it up and done the update you can then set up your PSN account.

Hello, I would like to say something about the ps vita
Ps vita c really is a revolution in the field of consoles, but one thing about it is that is too expensive for most consumers, unless Sony is just high society,,,,
If Sony really want the console to be well accepted, it takes 3 important thing in my point of view
First: c I think is best equipped of all the ps vita with a 4GB memory card, if the customer had wanted more, and I think it requires tightening of adds, because c is rien5 4GB (MP4, MP3, photo , video) there is 8,16,32,,,. because I find no sense a great company like this can think of has it!!
While all this trade become that ...?
2em: the prices of games are too too too high, I think the price is 30euro max for special games just for the unique flat shape psvita, and the max price of 20 euro for another game title that already exists on d another example PS3 platform.
3em: why not offer free games for all users ps vita, downloadable from the PSN (and of course a good game), like that in the feeling that is also true that we are the Sony
