PS Vita: General Discussion

What's the best one ? I've used two and both destroy the video quality , Is there one which keeps the quality I know that HD is not supported but surely there has to be a converter which doesn't downscale video to pixels .

I use Handbrake, and it works well for Vita and PSPgo and pretty much everything else. Ripbot264 is another good one, but I prefer Handbrake's UI, and am not sure if there are presets for Vita for Ripbot264.

On the quality: you need to downscale HD content for best results. Not only will you save a lot of space, but a quality encoder will do a much better work at downsampling than Vita will do on the fly.

Google a preset for Vita for it, but you have to change the resampling to 960x544, and turn decomb ON for best quality.

Is there a way to change the aspect ratio so it wont box the clip after conversion ?

Ignore that it's perfect on the Vita quality is fantastic and frame size thank's again.

I have also tried a number of video converters.  I've been most impressed by HandBrake.

I downloaded and imported this Vita profile:  http://handbrake-preset-for-playstation-vita.en.softonic.com/

Made some changes as the quality in particular was poor on default:

Picture > Size: Width = 960, height = 544.  'Lock Aspect Ratio' ticked

Video Filters > Decomb = fast

Video > Frame Rate = Same As Source, 'Constant Framerate' checked.  Quality > Constant Quality = RF30.0.  I read there is no need to go lower than 20 for RF, with a value of 0 being lossless.  The default value that came with the Vita filter I downloaded made videos really grainy.

Thanks for the tips, trying these out with some futaram atm.

The top hit on vita video converter is fake, no profile for vita even though it claims to have it. Decent for other outputs but handbrake is better imo.
