Be carful if you dont buy the offical because alot of the cheap ones dont work.
I bought a 3rd party one and made a usb adaptor because the need to join the data links.
The external battery i have is 12000Mah nd will charge the vita 4-5 times over.

People seem to be confusing the mains charger with the portable charger. They are two different things. The portable charger is something you take with you when on the go and allows you to recharge the Vita when low on power. It's essentially a portable storage of electrical power. You connect it to the Vita using its USB cable from the mains charger. You get an additional one and a half times the electrical power capacity of the Vita and is totally worth it. I got mine from Play.com for £32.99. They still have them in stock for that price. The MSRP is actually £49.99.
