Whats the use of 3G connection?

I just want to go on a little rant about the limitations of the PS Vita internet connections. First off you cant download anything over 20mb over the network, thats ok for people who dont want excessive charges to a small data plan. But what if your only source of internet is the network? your out of luck? this bums me because i was willing to pay for excessive downloads but i cant even download anything over the network.

I should have just bought the wifi version and not even worried about being connected to the network but i wanted the always on connection to play games online. Which brings me to my next part of this rant. You have to be connected to wifi to play games online???? What the heck, so i basically cant do anything with my vita unless i buy a second internet souce. SO now that im done I want to find people who play the ps vita my name is mj_2042 add me oh and respond to this tread I want to see what kind of responses other people have to this particular dilemma.

Re: Whats the use of 3G connection?

It was pretty obvious you couldn't play games over 3G considering 3G is extremely slow, 3G was brought in so you could talk to your friends, check trophies and use it for social media and i guess for remoteplay aswell. (Not sure if that's slow or not.)

You're not going to be able to play the majority of things on a 3G connection, however 4G will most likely be possible but you'd have to buy a PS Vita 4G for that once it's released.

There is going to be certain games that can play over a 3G connection such as the new Street Fighter Vs Tekken game and probably games that are turn based such as Monopoloy and Four in A row etc.

lots of use

mobile internet

friends list, chat

near

psn

google maps

some games work over 3g

I would never be without my vita.

Wifi is completely hit and miss when you are out and about.

No idea why people buy the wifi only model if they can afford 3g model

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

Re: Whats the use of 3G connection?

Meh, imo Three has some great data plans, I get all you can eat data (fair usage is upto 80GB per month before they start to do anything about it) and only pay £15. This includes call time, 300 minutes if you're using their Pay As You Go addon, 600 if you get the Sim Only £15 a month contract, addon lasts one month and if ya constantly buying it you may as well. You also get 2k text on both addon and contract. I also got 2k minutes for Three to Three calls which wasn't included but the store was being overly nice to me so I guess I got lucky :smileyvery-happy: You migh too but who knows? either way imo Three is a great service for 3G devices due to their unlimited data and high fair usage ammount where as most companies won't even give you more than 3-5 GB and normally costs more.

Re: Whats the use of 3G connection?

The 20MB download limit also exists on the iPad and iPhone. It's got nothing to do with Sony or Apple but restrictions put on them by the networks.

You can also play everybody's Golf using 3G(3 x daily tournaments, download the high scores play your round alone and upload you highscores) or  online using Wi-fi (tournaments every 1/2 hour or so,WITH others...i think not tried yet) and ad-hoc upto 8 players(also not tried).

P.S I  use NEAR alot as i take my PSV to work in my Van.

P.P.S If i'd just bought WI-FI i could only go online at Home or places where i know there's free wifi. With 3G i have the best of both worlds plus the 3G only apps that are coming.

I don't miss paying £5 p/m as what i do online with my PSV comes nowhere near the 250Mb limit to warrant paying anything more.

P.P.P.S I haven't got a personal mobile phone,only a very basic works mobile.

Re: Whats the use of 3G connection?

Only have a wifi only vita, I have a iPhone so tethering over the three network is fine. Tricks the vita into thinking its just a normal wifi network, I've played a mate on unit 13 over a 3g hotspot and its been fine.
