Hey, I'm considering buying a PS Vita (from amazon I'm thinking, have there been any issues with buying Vita's from amazon? The wifi version, not 3G) which will be my first Sony product since the PS2 original, but I'm really confused with which memory card to buy.
I want to spend as little as I can but I'm worried about running out of space then needing to buy a new memory card then the hassle of transfering everything, and I'm worried that won't be as simple as one would hope.
Would the 8gb be enough? I'm a big gamer, so I assume I will download some games, not sure though, I won't have movies on it but there might be music, but I have an iPhone anyway so I don't NEED to have music on the Vita.
Should I pay more for a 16gb? Or even a 32gb? I just have no idea how much data I'm gonna need for games.
Thanks everyone.

Hey I_am_Dtram,
There are definitely a few things to consider there.
When purchasing anything, especially online, it's good to be aware of your warranty, and the warranty process if you need to enact a claim.
If you purchase an official PlayStation product in a physical store, you'll have a 30 day in store warranty, and then a standing warranty with PlayStation for the remainder of the 12 months.
Memory cards - things to consider:
Will you download your games from the PlayStation Store, or collect the physical copies?
If you only plan on getting (mostly) physical copies, you wouldn't need much memory card space.
If you are downloading games, what is your Internet quota? If you have a smaller quota, you may want to limit redownloading games, so a bigger card might be more suitable.
Depending on your budget, you might want to opt for a larger card. Generally better to have too much, than not enough and have to get a larger one in the future anyway.
You have your 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB options available for retail sale in Australia at the moment as well.
Downloadable games can range from 10MB (minis) to around 4GB or more.
As a guide, Uncharted: Golden Abyss will not fit on a 4GB memory card.
There are also several social / media apps you can download (although not large in size, you may accrue a few)
At present, these are: foursquare, Facebook, LiveTweet, Flickr and Music Unlimited.
Keeping in mind you can use the PS Vita as a camera and media player (which you've covered in your post) - you may end up stashing a lot of movies, photos and music on there.
If you start with a memory card that is too small, all you'd need to do is back up your PS Vita to your PS3 or PC, swap the memory cards, and restore it to the new card. Fairly hassle free.

Is the 32GB card available here yet?

I to have seen the 32gb ones in jb & eb.
Fairly decent price but a 16gb does the job for me at this time.

i started with the 16GB card hand have 305MB free on it. most of it is from the vita games u get only or the vita (wipoeout (3G from vodafone), motastorme RC, Hustle Kings and some others), what i would like to do is still use my 16GB as it is and get a 32GB for videos and music. can i do a quick change from playing games fom 1 card to watching movies on the other card

Ahh ok well, I do definitely prefer having physical copies of games if they are available as physical copies, for example I'd definitely buy the hardcopy of Uncharted and all the big name games... Collections are nice ![]()
Currently I have an 8gb memory card in my basket on US Amazon.. But for $14 I think, I could get the 16gb just to make sure then also being free to download some games digitally as well... So confusing D:
Ummm oh also really important question, the only other thing I'm worried about is the charger. I'm assuming that it will not fit any Australian outlets which isn't a big deal, but would just a 3rd party charger or even an official Sony Australian one bought separately work? Or would I need an outlet converter for reasons such as the voltage required to charge it being different?
It's only a wifi model so there should be no online issues with having a US model should there be? Even when on wifi? :\ :\

Regarding the charger, you'll just need an adaptor for it, which cost around 2 dollars...So, NO...you don't need a step-down transformer.
You can also charge via USB, by the way.
EDIT: Here's an image of one.
