If you don't get any kind of plug adaptor in the mean time, and aren't impatient you can just plug the sync cable from your vita into any USB port to say a computer or whatever, just as long as its turned on so it will charge your vita. It doesn't charge as fast as the power cable charger does, but still does the trick.
As for your memory card size, I myself bought a 16GB, for about $80NZ, which really works out to about 14 or 15GB. Have one downloaded game on it, which takes up 1.5GB, and leaves me with only 12, and filled half of the rest up pretty quick with demos. I think I will definately be buying the physical copies as I don't like taking up so much room on my memory card.
If I had the money, I would have forked out the extra $35NZ and bought a 32GB memory card on www.nzgameshop.com. Haven't seen the 32GB cards in NZ, but I don't know possibly Jbhifi has them here too?

I originally got a 4GB card on launch, thinking that would be fine as I was just buying hard copy games. But as it turned out there was so much awesome free content on the store with demos, social apps, and free titles such as Frobisher says, my cheap preorder bonus of Escape Plan, all the free AR games... I filled up my 4GB memory card within 2 weeks. xD'
I've since upgraded to a 16GB and it's much better. I would recommend going bigger to start off with to save yourself money.

Mighty Ape have the 32GB card on special at the moment... and if I'd ordered on in the ten minutes following my order of the Uncharted case and a Top Gear bluray, I could have saved another $12..
Didn't order one though... I still have 19GB left on the card I have now, and hopefully by the time that it is full there will be 64GB cards..

I have an 8gb card. I haven't even bought any games yet and i'm nearly out of space. Demo's are huge, and if you want videos or music, that's another thing eating memory. I'd say get 16gb minimum.
Demos are huge because you are downloading the actual game.. but you have to pay for the activation of the full game, which is usually about 150 KB download..
I'm now down to just under 20GB on my card since downloading the trial version of Resistance BS
