I've got an 8gb card coming with my vita just because it was free on amazon.co.uk when bought with the vita. No doubt i'll find myself buying a 16gb one in the near future once my 8gb card gets full. I agree with the article when they say a 4gb card should have been included as standard so everyone can at least save their games.

To be honest, I don't think the 4GB is pointless, I guess it boils down to whether you download a lot of games, and store music or photos on there. It's the full games off the PS Store and the demos that eat the memory.
I got my 4GB with my pre order bundle, and I've managed to save more than once with each game I have, FIFA, Virtua Tennis and Uncharted, plus I've downloaded the Unit 13 Demo, and Escape Plan. I mean, there's no doubt about it, I want to get a higher capacity memory card in the future, but I'm just waiting until the prices go down, they're rediculous.
I still have about 2.5GB left on my memory card, which I think is pretty good, because I don't download full games from the PS Store, I prefer physical copies. I just get an odd demo now and again. I do think they're far from pointless though.

Give a short time and there will be 3rd party cards out! 16,32,64 etc! They will be less ££ too! Always happens. Look at the PSP and other devices and systems that have "official" memory cards/units! Always a 3rd party option for less.
Exactly.
Even at the Japanese Vita launch I thought to myself, "Give it time, some clever Chinese fellows will be able to make cheaper versions and then they'll be all over eBay"
Yes the prices are high now but it won't be long before there's alternatives
