Plus as I said above, it will help to sell the console to people who intend to use it for homebrew but later may buy retail games.
I understand your general argument - although that is incorrect (see PCs - people still pirate), but what I'm asking is - what useful homebrew has there ever been?
I don't wish to come across as whiter than white - I've tried homebrew on various devices and without fail, on all of them, it was utterly tedious and worthless - presumably why the orginators are prepared to give it away for free... Hence the question, what value is homebrew, apart from providing a means for people to pirate the system?
Of course, the underpinning of my comment is that piracy is a bad thing for us (the end users) but that is clearly not something everyone agrees with....
Oh, and I'll menition it again - PS Suite is the means by which legitimate home coders can produce their own original software for the device <- this should be enough.

Complete with slagging off the Xbox, wow, classy.
I feel I need to address the balancing here. I prefer my Xbox jet engine (which of course is ONLY because I have the old model, the new ones are consierably quieter than my PS3 once the fan ramps up in game) that I can game on instantly, to my PS3 which regularly decides it needs to take half an hour to download a game update before I can play the game.
Why oh why didn't Sony use simple patches like Xbox does? Although I do prefer the fact the PS3 keeps game updates forever, but that is a minor good point that would still work equally well with a patching system.
But what on earth does that have to do with people selling their Vitas or not?
Fact is I can't carry my Xbox in my pocket, so I choose Vita because its the closest to being able to do that. Its a typical Sony product though, rough around the edges (figurtively speaking), but its better than anyone else has to offer by far and I love it.
So there you see, you don't have to bash the competition needlessly. At least have a viable argument if you are going to.

Just to balance it out even more - my PS3 has never taken half an hour to download any game patch (obviously not the HUGE ones that take time on both platforms).
My 360 S is still much louder than my PS3.
Your 'rough around the edges' comment is pretty much spot on though. Sony love to develop updates once hardware is out, look at the PS3 for proof. Vita will only get better.
to be fare though PS3 pacth's do tend to be a lot bigger than 360 ones.
Though I do not find PSN slow at all.
my 80GB ps3 sounds like a helicopter as does one of my slims and my old style 360
But I have one ps3 and two new style 360 that sound fine.
But when I have my turtlebeach ot tritton headset on i do not here tham anyway.
I love to game and TBH I don't care what it is on which is why I own them all.

i think i found why so many people are still getting rid of their Vita's. the answer is MOBILE PHONES. yes that's right, few days ago i bought my first android mobile phone (xperia) & i was amazed at the amount & quality of the games available for it,it is unbelievable & most surprising to me was not only the $1 great games & apps available but also the amount of FREE amazing apps & games available. if i knew mobile phone gaming was this good i would have never ever bought my bulky Vita.

I disagree with that for the most part. Yes smart phones and tablets have made an impact but that impact is not as significant as you may think. If nothing else games on those mobile platforms cannot compare to the top quality games on dedicated handheld game consoles. Plus these devices cost a lot more then the games consoles. Even the phones on co tract over a long period you end up spending a lot more money on them.
