It's not selling well in us or uk either. Remember Japan is the country where handheld is king so what chance realistically does it have here or US??

Console trends iin Japan no longer influence the rest of the world like they used to.

Its not about the handheld itself in japan, its about the games that can be played on it and Japan have a different prefence to games compared to Europe/US. So people in Japan may be less fans of games like uncharted compared to the rest of the world.

The reason why the Vita is not selling as well is that there isnt many games that has their interest compared to the 3DS at this moment, but remember at the same point of the 3DS life, it was going through the same problems as it had a lack of games.

It's not lack of games it the price and we have just dipped back into a resecion.

Once the 3Ds price dropped the sales increased by a big amount.

This lack of games is a a lame excuse, it has more games on it after 2 months than any other console before it.

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

I never said anything about lack of games, I mentioned that compared to the 3DS there isn't much games for the Japanese market.

I know that the 3DS has been out more and I disagree with much of the rubbish people have been saying about the Vita failing. I just hate it I people compare the Japanese market with the EU/US market. Two different markets, different type of game preferences

bobchickenkfc implied that if the Vita is doing poorly in Japan what chance does it have anywhere else and I replied that Japan doesn't have that influence over worldwide console sales like it used to. A trend in Japan doesn't mean the rest of the world will follow

I don't quite understand why you started going on about the genres of the Vita's games not appealling to Japan in response to me as that's not a on-topic follow on from what I said

Re: Why vita will fail (not trolling just fact)

I ment it more to backup your statement but I was also targeting his post over him descriping that handheld is king statement which I was saying that its not the handheld itself but the software.

I should have just quoted him but this was on a new page I just simply quoted the both of you, no attack to you and I totally agree with you. I personally have a dislike to the sales in japan excuse that most people use (which you didnt)

Also smart phones are evolving at an amazing rate how long before it starts producing vita quality games? 1 or 2 years ,max. Sony are mad if they think they will get a 5 year lifecycle out of it

Ok, which one would you buy based on price:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus - £429.99

Sony PS Vita WiFi - £229.99

Hmmm... I know which one I would choose!!!

Why should I be worried about carrying things that I use with me?

Easy for me Vita as it is a dedicated games machine and that is why I bought it nothing to do with the Price.

Exactly.

When my phone contract is up I'm not going to think "hmmmm, should I get a new phone or a toaster because its cheaper?".  Not really much use if it doesn't do what I need it for.

Re: Why vita will fail (not trolling just opinion)

I don't think the Vita is really competing directly with the smartphone market - there is a crossover with certain things but I don't think people will not buy a Vita because they have a smartphone in the same way people wouldn't not buy a DS for that reason. If it has games they want and the price is not unreasonable then they will buy it.

I really like the Vita and hope it does well - I am expecting a price drop or some good value bundles to come out in time for Christmas and if so that would really help them out. The Vita came out at a bad time economically and Sony will need to make it a 'must-have' Christmas gift so hopefully we will see some more agressive marketing, good value bundles, some more good games etc.

One argument about the Vita I don't get is that people are saying no one wants a home console on the move. Well, why not? And why not have both? Vita can play tons of cheapo smartphone type games AND good quality games, so whether you want to play Angry Birds or some jewel puzzle game or Uncharted or Wipeout it doesn't matter, you have a choice and that is what the smartphones don't have and what I don't think they will have for at least 5 years. I mostly play my Vita indoors anyway, curled up on the sofa when the TV is in use.
