ok i know theres a few threads floating around about near not working but for me it did work (most of the time anyway)
but for about a week now it just hasnt worked
it either cant find my location or just tells me "An error has occured" without an error code or anything
has this happened to anyone else? is there a fix?
just wondering if its just me or if the near servers have gone down or something as it woked then just stopped

I had the exact same thing after 5 days of owning the Vita and near was working perfectly. Then it suddenly stopped working with the "an error has occurred message" everytime it tried upload the location data. I thought it would fix itself eventually thinking it was a network issue. After 4 days and it still not working I decided to take action.
In the end I used the hard reset method and then selected the restore to factory settings option. This has fixed near for me but was a pain in the butt setting the whole thing up again and having to play each game once to get the trophies back onto the Vita. Any game downloads will have to be completed again also.
If you do it make sure everything is backed up just incase, make sure your trophies are sync'ed up and take out your memory card as well as a precaution.

My numbers have grown but i still get the same peeps on my screen.
Near is a strange buggy little app.
I teathered it to my fones wifi hotspot and went for a wee walk, Near says i did 12 miles and set my location to 20 miles away. 12 miles in 30 mins I wish

I know how it works. I'm not lying, I read the tutorial and help in the "?" section inside the app. It works fine for me since disabling auto update and restoring. Been getting location data in my town (back of beyond) and in Glasgow
Happy Days.
Getting it working is really a trial and error process but it's really neat once you find settings that work for you ![]()

I had same issue. Only cure was factory reset. Note you dont have to format your memory card when it asks. You must deactivate vita when it asks. I also hadto play a game after reset beforeitshowedmy avatar on thenear map. This all cured the "an error has occured" messaage when uploading for now. It still thinks I am going between myoldand current address every day despite me leaving it at home all day and updating skyhook and despite having 3g model with gps. In short tthe app sux

As I reported on another thread, I managed to fix my 'error occurred' issue:
I really didn't fancy resetting to factory defaults my Vita and so did the following, which happened to work for me:
Power off Vita
Remove the Memory Card & Game card (was playing Uncharted)
Reboot Vita.
Update Near (unsure if this is actually necessary, I'd just done it to see if the error was still there)
Power Off Vita.
Re-insert Memory Card.
Reboot Vita.
Near was then fully functional again. Curious to see if anyone else manages to fix their problem following this procedure.
