i was one the phone with a bt advisor who clearly had no idea how to do this. he kept me on the phone for an hour exactly to make it worse for me.
i had to repeat the word port forward to him at list 4 times before he went off and probably went off to reaad how to do it.
all i wanted was for someone to go "ok what are the ports? ok ive put them in for you does it work"
i didnt give him the actuall ports untill 40minutes into the call because he would say he would fix this for me from what hes doing lol.
anyways in the end he was liek you will have to ring sony its there device. he made it worse in the end as i couldnt even connect to my router at all after this. so i quit the call. he told me he had reset everything back to default (back to square 1) and deleted all the settings for the ports i was like noo i could of tried myself with them.
i went back into my router settings to see and he left upnp off and had my vita in DMZ. so he didnt put it back to default.
in the end after numerous tweets to bt care etc. i gave up and bought a new router. THE NEW ROUTER WORKED STRAIGHT AWAY NAT 2 NO HASSLE. PLUS I CHECKED CALL OF DUTY MW3 WHICH USUALLY HAD ME ON STRICT NAT ON THE LOBBY MENU CAUSING ME NOT TO INVITE JOIN PARTIES. TRIED IT WITH MY NEW ROUTER AND IT HAD GONE TO MODERATE. SO HOME HUB 2 SUCKS ( IN MY CASE ANYWAY)
good luck with it. but i couldnt change it and had to pay out.
I have read a few posts regarding the BT Hub 2.0 and Vita issues it's likely it just isn't compatible with the Vita the Hub 2.0 has been succeeded by the Hub 3.0 so its getting old in technical terms.
You'll probably even get open NAT on COD if you DMZ your PS3 in your new router moderate is still an improvement over strict that you were getting previously.

I don't want to have to buy a new router, but if I do, what one did you get? I'm with o2, would they provide a new router?
The router you have with o2 is it the Thompson o2 box #2 i have read a lot of negative views on that specific model no DMZ option and nightmare to set-up port forwarding.
It might be worth trying to blag a new router off o2 just make up or over exaggerate some tech issues.

I stumbled on this:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psvita/
It has yet more different numbers for porting!
If I combine all the numbers that you guys have given me, plus the ones on this site, would that help open the Vita up, or would it be too many port numbers for the router to cope with?

It's worth a try ports 80 and 8080 could be the issue if your router/ISP are restricting them so open them up as for ports 3478,3479 and 3480 enter a port range of 3478-3480 will save the hassle of three separate settings.

Do you have a router? If you have PPPoE (and not everyone does by the way), the username and password should be in your router. You should not need to configure PPPoE on your Vita.

All DMZ does is exclude traffice to a specific IP address from being blocked by the firewall. Setting that up would not break your internet connection. If it did your router is broken, or some other configuration you did caused the issue.
